I hope we have something similar in IL. There was a report on the million plus dollars that have been spent on forest preserves in Cook County and with little to show for more people using them. Since the preserves allow horse riders, electric motorcycles could open the door to getting mroe people to use them. Not everyone can own or look after a horse, but virtually anyone could have an electric motorcycle.

I wonder if some of the cheap electric scooters that I have been seeing on sale at Costco are made by this company: http://ekovehicle.com/ They claim that the scooters are designed in the USA but manufactured in India.

Looks very interesting. With a 60 mile range and 70 mph top speed it should be a lovely city bike for the spring, summer and fall months.

Its good to see mroe competition in this segment. It can only mean good news in the months ahead especially when even the big names like Honda and KTM are planning electric motorcycles to compete with these new companies.

I e-mailed Vectrix and they are offering test rides in the Northern suburbs. As you know, it is snowing and icy at the moment but I hope to do a test ride shortly.

Be happy to PM you the information if you want it as well, though you most probably know more about this than I do.

I'll try and take some pics of the test ride and post my reactions and my buying decision afterwards over here.

Yes, I hope we'll see some of these machines at Rosemont in Feb. I woud love to do a test ride - am planning to buy an MC next spring and an electric one would be fun.

I think it is a very good idea. While the upfront costs of electric two wheelers are high, if more of them are sold, economies of scale would come in and bring prices down. And considering that many people are single vehicel occupants on their daily commute to and back from work, a lot less fuel would be used if more of these sell.

A far better idea than giving billions to the Detroit dinosaurs IMO.

I agree with Whatisthis. My own daily commute is just 12 miles one way and if I need to pick up some emergency groceries, then I can do that on the way back. I am unlikely to exceed 30 miles on a single day when I am working. For this kind of commute, an electric motorcycle would be nice.

I'd like to test ride this bike if it becomes available in Chicago. The price seems just right and it would be a nice machine to ride to work and back - a 12 mile ride either way every day for me. Let's see if they begin to sell them over here.

Glad to be here. This is going to be a learning experience for me. I do not own an electric motorcycle but am looking at buying a commuter bike next spring and would like it if it were electric instead of fossil fuel driven.

Hope to learn more and participate in discussions with experienced members here.
