Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Re: clunk in front end
« on: September 20, 2016, 01:02:37 AM »
i have tried adjusting the slotted nut and the upper jam nut but can't find the right tightness that allows smooth steering without the clunking. I wonder if dealer overtightened it and cause damage to the bearings and races. it is a local dealer, 1 hour drive away. The dealer i bought it from in phoenix, 2 hours away says he will take care of it, just gotta get it up there, a miserable drive hauling the trailer, then drive back. then when done doing it over again.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / clunk in front end
« on: September 18, 2016, 06:48:48 AM »
the front end was clunking, i suspected the brake caliper so i took it in to the dealer for other issues too, and they found the steering head loose. They charged me 80$ to tighten them up. When i rode it yesterday it was hard to turn and keep in a straight line, they tightened them too much, but the clunking was gone. I loosened the jam nut a little to free up the steering , but now the clunk is back so the bearings must be bad and should be replaced under warranty. The bike has less than 4000 miles on it

the batteries should be lower down and stick out the sides like the jugs on a bmw, it would keep the cg lower and not look too weird

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / power tank removal
« on: September 15, 2016, 02:06:33 AM »
it would be nice to be able to take the power tank out for trail riding, but i been told the bike won't run without it unless the wiring harness is removed also. I wonder if any of the electronic wiz kids on this site could come up with a module that would plug into the tank connector to allow the bike to run as if it were original. i'd pay money for that.

dropped off at dealer today, now the wait begins. Also had a problem with the front end, on hard braking there is a loud clank, or snap sound from somewhere in the front end, i'm thinking steering stem or bearings. It has always clunked and rattled going down dirt roads, but this sounds more serious

the last few times i rode , i turn key on, get on bike, put stand up and power cuts off for a few seconds with an audible click, then comes back on. It has happened a few times, and once when i came to stop, without touching sidestand, cut out, then came back on in a few seconds. All power stops, as if turning off the key, no lights or instrument panel. Going to bring back to dealer next week since still under warranty. It's a 2014ds

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / 2014 losing power
« on: October 13, 2015, 11:31:00 PM »
just got my ds back from dealer with new power tank installed, and riding home from work last night cruising at around 65 it started  losing power as if i had cut the throttle, it was startling. i rolled off throttle and back on and it recovered a little, but it did this 6 times within 10 miles. it still had about 50% charge. Made it home no problem with 30% left, it's about 60 miles round trip. i noticed before the tank install i would get the hot light on panel when cruising, but always slowed down till it went out. i know the dash is jacked from the dealer, trip doesn't work and odo reads 230000, so could the heat  light not be coming on? that would suck if i can't cruise 65mph on the freeway. It has less than 500 miles on it.
