Their web site looks unchanged with only 2010 stuff showing.

Where did he get the Camo?
Is it a sheet w/adhesive backing that you cut to size then peel and stick?
I've been looking on Cabelas web site and no luck finding anything like that.
I want to do the same thing when I get my electric bike.....when.

Thank you both for the info....

Jake_up, no prior experience with Electric per say.
I am a Mechanical/Industrial designer with lots of fabrication experience.
I also have an Electrical engineer who will help me out with the motor/electronics stuff.

The platform (81 Honda Odyssey FL250) is a great starting point for my first project.
But I won't be putting too much money or time into it as the the Odyssey is old and limited by minimal suspension and so on. It has lots of room for batteries and a very simple setup for location of the motor.
I won't be putting in high-end batteries or motor on this project.

It will be fun for sure and the kids will dig it when I'm done.

This project will tell me if I want to try converting a dirt bike (my ultimate goal) to electric.

Hello all,

I picked up an old 81 or 82 Honda Odyssey FL250 for cheap with the sole intention of converting to Electric. Has anyone done this or know of someone else or maybe seen it on the web somewhere? Any info or suggestions would be great.

They must use an adhesive to keep the tire from spinning on the rim.
Which means they do not use a rim lock like Dirt bikes use.

You may want to ask Zero what to do after you break that adhesive bead.
Does the adhesive re-stick to itself when the tire is re-installed?
If it does not re-adhere, doe the tire then spin and cut off your valve stem?

Maybe you can add a rim lock, but that would throw your balance off (big deal if this is a street version - not if its dirt only).

Big pain if your on the trail and get a flat tire. you need to sit there with the tire in the sun.
What if it's a cold day out on the trail.
 ???

Thanks for the input.
From everything I've been reading and searching on, I'm starting to point to the Quantya as my choice.
Mainly for how it's built and it's perceived quality.

I like taking the gnarliest of goat trails as well as high speed stuff.
It's looking like the Quantya is built to suit my type of riding which is extreme trail riding.

This is what I will be doing.....

Quantya Trial - Enduro
Quantya Onboard camera - Mountain trip PART 2

I'm talking to a local rep.
I think the Quantya will ultimately be my choice.

Can anyone tell me if Quantya uses an assorted can of nuts and bolts on their bike like the Zero does?
I don't want to carry a whole bag of wrenches with me when I ride.

I posted this in the "Zero" forum as well as to compare notes....

The Zero and the Quantya are the two models at this point that are really worth looking at (unless KTM gets their bike out fairly soon). I'm looking at making a purchase at the beginning of 2010.

Both bikes have their pros and cons that I can see.
I have read the review by DirtBike mag as well as other write-ups.

So my question is to those that actually own one or the other....

1) How was delivery of your machine?
- How was dealer ? honest and forth right?
- Bike mess when delivered or well crated?
- On time or late?
- good communication from dealer before and after delivery?

2) WHEN a part broke....
- was it covered under warranty ?
- was there an argument from support when asked for replacement part?
- how was time to get replacement?

3) overall condition after whomping for a few months?
- plastics?
- rattles?
- loose parts? (nuts, bolts etc.)

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

General Discussion / Newbie here....

Hello All.

I've been looking into an Electric Dirt bike for some time now.
Don't have the time to build one so I have been looking at the latest offerings that are on the market now.
Found this forum and said "Perfect! just what I need to find out the real skinny on things".
I look forward to learning from everyone here and in return hopefully helping someone out as well.
I'm hoping to make a purchase by the beginning of the year and this site I'm sure will help in making the best choice.
