Buy Sell Trade / ALLTRAX SR48500
« on: July 05, 2020, 10:24:20 PM »
Hi,
I have an Alltrax48500, like new, no mileage. 0-5k throttle. with cooling fan and fuse.
https://alltraxinc.com/product/sr-series/

I have a 2011 model S, the controller was replaced 2 years ago, and I thought I had the same problem again.
I bench tested the replacement setup, but it was the MBB causing problems.

It's in the original box from D&D motors.

Paid $609 new, will consider $500.

PM me if interested.

Buy Sell Trade / 2011 MBB
« on: July 18, 2016, 06:34:33 AM »
Hi,
Does anyone have an extra 2011 MBB for a model S if possible.

Mine keeps re-booting, when connected to a laptop you can see the start up banner coming up.
During a drive the throttle dies until it is brought back to idle, then the contactor reconnects.

I am in Oshawa, I use "The Personal" it's an affinity program by DesJardins.
$271/yr inclusive.
They rate my 2011 S as a 399cc, it's a bit much. I would compare it to a 250cc.

Pics and Vids / 2011 Model S on a dyno.
« on: November 09, 2015, 04:13:42 AM »
Hi,
I setup my 2011 Model S on a dyno at work for fun. Here is a picture:

For those that are interested peak power was 24HP, and top speed 107kmh.

I sent them an email, and quoted the letter.
2 days later I received a very curt reply: NOT IN CANADA

Double dam!

Hi,
I get my motor parts here:
http://www.jozztek.com/shop/

Just ordered a set, bearings, brush holder with a grinding stone, it took about a week in the mail.

Here in Ontario I use The Personal, it's an affinity program with the Professional Engineers association.

For a 2011 Zero S, with a $300 deductible, I am paying about $200/yr.

Funny thing the rate they gave me is the as for a 399cc.
Obviously more powerful than my machine.

Does anyone know what is the equivalent cc's for a 2011 Zero S?

Allo Dr. Bass,

Would you have a motor that matches my 2011 S?

Aurais tu un moteur qui ferais sur mon S 2011?

Le mien commence a faire du bruit a 11 000 km.

Merci,

Pierre

You are lucky, at least the SAAQ lets you go on highways. (Once they sort out power, energy, and top speed)

I am in Ontario where ALL electric motorcycles are banned, except on low speed highways.

MAD AS HELL in Ontario. >:(

General Discussion / My motorcycle is ILLEGAL!
« on: July 24, 2014, 08:45:09 PM »
The area I live in has a graduated license system, and I called a local drivers school to do the last step to get a full motorcycle license. The person at the other end having not encountered an electric motorcycle driver before asked the government department about the legal status of electrically propelled motorcycles.

Electrically propelled motorcycles are illegal on major highways in Ontario!

I even looked it up, and it is true.

Here is a quote from the current Ontario Highway Traffic Act:
R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 630
VEHICLES ON CONTROLLED-ACCESS HIGHWAYS
1.  (1)  Subject to subsection (2), no person shall operate,
(a) a bicycle;
(b) a motorcycle having a cylinder swept volume of 50 cubic centimetres or less;
(c) a motorcycle driven by electricity stored in the vehicle;
(c.1) a limited-speed motorcycle, as defined in Ontario Regulation 340/94 (Drivers’ Licences) made under the Act;
(c.2) a power-assisted bicycle;
(d) a motor assisted bicycle; or
(e) a wheelchair,

on those controlled-access highways and parts of controlled-access highways described in the Schedule. R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 630, s. 1 (1); O. Reg. 598/05, s. 1; O. Reg. 368/09, s. 1.

That means that Brammo, Harley Davidson Livewire, Zero, and the others are illegal on major highways.

We Ontarians have to make some noise on this one, we could get fined if caught.

Parts, Mods And Hacks / Re: Towing / Racking a 2013 Zero S motorcycle
« on: June 12, 2014, 10:48:03 PM »
Make sure you run a ratchet strap around the rim part of the wheel between the spokes to secure it to the trailer frame. Then the bike cannot move. Something that should be done with any motorcycle transport.

Go to this page from the CBP:
http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/basic_trade/importing_car.xml

They have everything laid out in there, most of the information assumes you are importing a foreign made vehicle.
Since the vehicle is electric, that solves the EPA issues. As far safety systems go, you have to make clear in your documentation that the vehicle is made in USA and already conforms. A letter form the manufacturer helps a lot.

What is left is the title document, Canada does not use one like the US, the license/ownership document is used instead.
You will have to find out what the replacement is in your case.
