So this is my experience with my 13' DS 11.4. I bought the bike at the end of February with the temps in the mid to high twenties. I could not resist riding, so I was riding some days in 15 degree temps in the morning. The bike performed fine but I found I could not charge the bike until it warmed up to 31 degrees. So I would put the bike in a garage at work and let it warm up so I could charge it back up to ride it home. Riding the Zero in cold temps works fine so long as you have a warm place to put some charge back into the bike. I found my watts per mile were really high during the cold rides (209), so my mileage per a charge was really down. Zero sent me a document on my bike that said I was ok to ride as long as it was not -22 degrees. They also say it is not recommended that the bike be ridin while the battery temp is below 23 degrees. Of course I did not have this document until after I had done my 15 degree rides. Anyway the only tough thing I have found was keeping the bike warm enough to charge other than that cold weather was not an issue for me.

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2013+ / Washing the bike...
« on: March 14, 2013, 01:01:31 AM »
So last Saturday, after running up some dirt roads with a lot of spring run off on them, I got my 13' DS pretty muddy. When I took the bike home and sprayed all the mud off of it I noticed that I was now getting a warning light blinking. I looked up what the error code represented and it was the "BMS isolation fault" error. So I took a short video of the error and sent it in to zero support. They advised me that once the bike dried out the error would discontinue. Riding in to work today the error is still visible but showing up for less time. Just wanted to mention this to other owners to be carful when spraying water in the rear wheel well, near the BMS. I am going to be more careful how hard I spray water near the BMS in the future.
I did get to try out sending the fault logs to Zero via the app, works perfectly. Just a heads up when you was the bike for the first time.

On Feburary 20th I purchased a 2013 DS 11.4. The bike has really been truly amazing, just a joy to ride to work everyday. I used it for my daily commute of 66 miles round trip from Tooele, UT to Salt Lake City, UT. As the temperatures here have been very low I have only ridden in 6 times because of the chill factor. I currently have put 350miles on the bike.
I have a few questions regarding the bike that I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing.
First, when I start up the bike each ride I have to cycle the ignition twice to get it to go, the first cycle it give a flashing exclamation code that I have not taken the time to decode the pattern. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Second, and this is not a problem but more just something I noticed, when charging I see on the phone app that the bike cycles between 11 amps charging and 12 amps charging switching about every 2-3 seconds. Anyone else seeing this?
Third, has anyone experienced a good rain that you could see how much water builds inside the cool tank compartment? I have been keeping my paper work in that compartment but it really looks like it is not waterproof at all, worried I may get my stuff soaked in that compartment. I have heard rumors of a hard case accessory that would fit in the tank storage area. Anyone know if it is true?

Totally loving my new bike, so much more comfortable ride then the 2012 DS I almost bought.

Thanks,

Just picked up my 2013 DS 11.4 last night! Loaded it up in the truck and it snowed the whole drive home, it was so cold that by the time I got the bike in my drive way to roll it into my shed it would not run because of the too cold safety switch. Can't wait for the weather to turn so I can ride! Weather man is showing spring weather in the next 7 days. I have tried the app for my phone but have not seen anything but 000 in most of the fields, I think because I have not ridin the bike to record any info. Hope to get a cold ride in tonight. My dealer mentioned I needed to only ride to 1/2 charge for the first 30 charge cycles, reading through the zero manual I could not find any thing but "no break in is needed". Has anyone else heard about being carfeful for the first 30 charges? I want to treat the battery the best I can. Any advise would be great. Thanks,

38/Tooele, UT/2012 DS Been following this post everyday for last 3 months waiting to hear a solid solution from Zero fixing the glitch before I buy. I have test driven the bike and totally love it. My dealer let me take the bike home over night 70 miles away to my house. Hoping to read soon that there is an official fix so I can put in my order.
