This sure sounds like a loose electrical connection on something. A connection on a sensor, throttle, connection at the MBB or controller.

Stay away from fox news. They are part of the corporate machine and they will kill anything Green!

Brushes would be the place to start. How close is your dealer and is it still under warranty?

Looking at my 2012 S Owners Manual, the BMS is inside the power pack which makes sense because the BMS 4 status LEDs are on the front of the box. The 420 Amp motor controller has an aluminum heat sink attached and it is below the seat facing the rear wheel. The MBB is mentioned in the fuse description and it says Main Bike Board/Controller. So, I don't know if there are 2 items supplied by that fuse or 2 names for the 1 item.

I would like to talk with you more regarding your knowledge of the controller!

Thanks BSDTHw for the insight. What is the MBB?

The BMS will disable the battery pack when it reaches a lower cutoff voltage. This LCV is above the battery's "do not discharge to here" voltage.

So it should be safe, other than you might be walking.

5.3 kWh used to recharge with 4 bars left does sound suspicious.

That sounds like my ZF9: 4 bars, 5.91 KWH to recharge.

I have a Zero S ZF9 I purchased 5 months ago. I have 2773 miles on it and I've had no glitches. I am curious what firmware version different owners have on their bikes.

On boot up, mine shows u7  2011  11.

I've liked RC planes since my teens. I didn't have a good place to fly so, I built a swamp buggy air boat from a kit. It was powered by a glow plug engine. I did have a small electric RC helicopter for a while several years ago.

I'm an electronics technician and part of TEVA, Triad Electric Vehicle Association, so I was not too concerned about no local dealer when I purchased my Zero. The only issue I've had is a leaking left fork. Zero shipped me a fork and the local motorcycle shop replaced it for me and Zero paid for it.

I did question Zero about getting some training on the BMS and controller but, they didn't show any interest in training an owner. I'm sure they have some kind of diagnostics they can run on a laptop, and that's what I would like to know about.

I thought about buying online and having it shipped but, I bought from a dealer 330 miles away. Now there is a dealer 100 mile from me.

Absolutely Cool! Are you guys interested in other EVs or mainly motorcycles?
