33F/0C in tonight's ride home of just 5.3mi/8.53km.  Plugged in in her usual spot in the garage (front) and neither the rhythmic clicks nor green light on the dash happened.  No sign she was taking a charge.  The bike would still turn on, however.  Worried, we rolled her into the house. After an hour, I plugged her back in, and she is now happily drinking from the tap. :)I t's always an unusual sight in the foyer. I hope nobody trips on her in the middle of the night!

Of course, as the evening rolls by, the conversation replays in my head and I realize that the visual in my mind and the words I said that really mattered didn't match: I meant to say $.018/mi (but this is actually the most recent average for the 2013 with my husband and I going all-in in subsidized green energy). It was closer to "almost" a penny a mile for the 2012 ~ which I had ridden mainly in Eco mode for the 4K+ miles I put on it from June 2012 - April 2013   (I'd been riding my 2013 a little more aggressively of late.)

I notice that the throttle won't engage and the double-blink-long-pause happens when I turn the key with the emergency cut-off disabled.  I find I usually have to be sitting on the bike and ready to go, pull up the kickstand, turn the key, let it start up, and then disable the cut-off switch.  It's also been unusually cold lately. :/  I miss riding! But I don't want to chance getting stranded when the temps dip below 20F.

Probably, some of the bike are reliable. The issue is that when is goes wrong, customers are left alone and no process seems available at Zero to ensure radical solutions (cash back, quick exchange with a new bike,...) when it goes horrbly wrong.

The issue is : is buying a Zero is like a reverse lottery which can end up with 20 k$ lost for something you wont be able to resell, it is a real issue. Hence the whole user communauty should support effort to ensure these "catastrophic cases" are not left with a fair, quick & reassuring answer !

Richard speaks to this exact point by offering suggestions on how the situation can be improved. But the tone of your note is implying you are demanding a lawsuit for the customers you are quoting and not at all interested in positive feedback. The situation you are describing (purchase of completely faulty vehicle) falls under the Lemon Law -- which exists at the government level. Dissatisfied and mistreated customers should invoke it. But a lot the issues for dissatisfied customers like what you described falls under the dealership's responsibility.

I imagine that if Zero sells directly to customers like Tesla does, the resolution you seek (refunds, replacements, loaners, etc.) would fall squarely on Zero's shoulders instead of the dealership. Unfortunately, I don't think the dealerships read these forums. So I'm not sure how you mean to achieve your goal here.

If ever I have a problem with my iPhone, I can take it back to the Apple Store and get it looked at. It is not uncommon for the device to get replaced entirely if any number of software or hardware issues come up, and I can walk away happy.  It would be awesome if Zero can be in the same situation as Apple.

Update for my '13 S11.4:

The clicking noise was coming from the failed bearings in my rear wheel (which was replaced ahead of any clicking). My dealer contact says they're contacting the bearing manufacturer to get it all under warranty. I'd gone less than 2K miles before the clicking started) But I'll be off my Zero at least a week while they work on that and check my odometer inaccuracy as well (possible mis-install of firmware update but it might also be something else). My Zero was running great otherwise.

Forgot to mention I've got over 2,200 since I bought my 2013 S ZF11.4. I had brake squealing that went away between 1200-2200 miles. Not sure why it's back with a vengeance. :/
