Oh, ok. You said it was a 140-07-4001.

Good setup then!

I thought it was the 140... because I couldn't find anything with the data on the engine. But it is probably specialy made for MCF.

That it wouldn't be a bad setup I figured out bacause it all comes from a working machine, It's what I can expect from it I don't know .

Thinck I'll first fix it on the workbench and find out how many rev's it makes.

part nr xV8-4001  where the x = a hardly readable  letter. I'm gessing it's G or O

ADC's are good little motors. Don't expect a ton of torque on a motor that small, maybe 30ftlbs, give or take. Gear it high so you can get lots of torque, and low top speed.

The big issue is going to be, that the controller will not work with the motor. The controller is for a shunt motor (sepex), and the motor is series wound. Can you get a series wound controller at work?

What range do you want?

your second paragraph surprises me a little bit. Everything comes from the same working machine and I thinck Caterpilar/Rocla know what they are doing ?  ;D
The Sem 1C controller is from Zapi : http://www.zapiinc.com/products/dc-separately-excited-motor-controller/sem-1
On the motor it says ADC ...V8-4001 (... = one unreadable digit), but it (and pictures) seems to indicate it's the 140-07-4001 motor.

What I expect ? I don't know, I was hoping you guys could tell me what I can expect of this  ;D

Where I live, there are no desserts/big terrains/... and if there are places you could ride, mostly it isn't allowed. So long range isn't a priority and neither is high speed. If it can ride up slopes with some ease, and has a "max-cruise-speed" (= not the highest speed because like that other bloke says : it drains the battery's at top speed) off about 35-40 mhp I'd be happy.And this for about  one hour without draining the battery's totaly (=bad for battery life) would be super  :)

Hi everybody,

I'm Jan from Belgium and I'm a 2-wheeled petrolhead, especially 2-strokes.

I love riding motorcycles as much as making/creating them. Currently I own a Kawasaki KR-1S streetfighter, and a KR-1S with a SV650 engine for streetuse, and a ZXR400 with a ZZR600 engine for trackdays. I'm also making a trackday KR-1S with a KX500 engine.

As for my profession : I'm a forklift mecanic.

Allthough I started my biking career on a trails bike, the first time I rode on fast streetbike I was completly adicted to it and switched. But I always told myself I'd get another trail bike, but somehow it never happened as I was too busy with my street/track bikes.

But since I started working for the forklift company some 4 years ago, I have learned a lot about electric motors/controllers/... and over the years, the idea of making an electric bike grew on me.

So now I posses a motor/controller/.... well, about everything from a working orderpicker that was going to be "scrap-metaled" (or however you call it in English). My idea is to make a trail bike with it, good enough to have some fun in the neighboorhood for 1 to a couple of hours - much will depend on how long the batteries will last. I can not see me having fun with an electric streetbike - nothing can beat a 2-stroke engine if it's about fun - but I see a major advantage in an electric streetbike : the noise it doesn't make and not bothering people with it in the neighbourhood  8)

So here is my question : the motor I have is a Advanced DC Motors 140-07-4001 and a SEM-1 C 24V controller. The idea is to use it with 2 12V car batteries as big as I can get them in the bike (or 4 smaller ones).
This motor gives 2HP continous, 3HP for one hour and 10HP peak. max rpm is 5.000 ? but what can one expect from it ? what gearing to use ? I found a DIY bike with this engine (http://www.evalbum.com/1415) and that seem's to be quite ok for my purpose: top speed isn't important, it "likes" 35mph which is ok I thinck on rough terrain, and it does about
30 miles which is enough.

Is my idea any good ? Does it make sense ? is that motor strong enough to ride up steep hills ? I found a graph on it's caracteristics, but frankly I don't understand it. The motor is supposed to make 5.000 rpm, but the graph only goes to about 3.000 ?
