Yes, certainly could have been cleaner with an IEC socket. My goal was not taking anything apart on the bike.

I got the kit from Harlan as well, but decided to mount it up top, facing up. With some careful plastic scalpel work, I didn't need to take any parts off the bike to install it; hence the installation slot. Easy to plug in, I'm even thinking of cutting a hole in my bag and insert the plug end. Then I would never disconnect the cable from the bike, it's weather protected and I just leave the cable in the bag until it's time to plug into the wall.

(Bonus: Also attached is my timer box for showing how much my "fuel" cost today) ;)

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2012 and older / Inductive charging
« on: February 08, 2013, 06:15:32 AM »
One of my suggestions to Zero when many of us customers spoke to the CEO, was to offer inductive charging on future models. Has anyone done this with their Zero? I'm interested in what format/brand of charging unit might be out there to set on my garage floor and charge my bike when I return home at night. Suggestions?

... And I'd be that cross-eyed bugger you see in the email that came out from Zero. (bob p.) I'm the first video you see when you land at the /customer page. It was fun watching all the videos this morning guys (and gal). Such a great product.

Started my taxes tonight, and voila! The old 2011 form has transformed into the 2012 form! Same link as protomech posted. You can find it here for all your tax crediting pleasures:

I'm curious if any U.S. folks are planning on attending the plug-in day events around the country this Sunday? I plan on stopping by the one South of LAX. Any +1's? http://events.pluginday.org/p/salsa/event/common/public/index.sjs?distributed_event_KEY=613

I have my call in two weeks. Excited to expound my love for a product to the CEO of said product (strange). Only commensurate suggestion would be about the mirrors be hard to see through.

@ColoPaul - It was about 5 years ago I built it, maybe $80 total? Still working today. And yes you have to hold up glove to antennae, within 3" for this model. Looks like there are commercial solutions now: http://www.popsci.com/gear-amp-gadgets/article/2009-02/diy-rfid  Here is the model I used : http://www.parallax.com/Store/Accessories/CommunicationRF/tabid/161/List/0/ProductID/517/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName%2cProductName

@Electric Cowboy - That's beautiful!

In a similar vein, I used RFID tags on each glove for my garage door opener: https://picasaweb.google.com/117446794976301437784/RFIDGarageDoorOpener?authkey=Gv1sRgCOPqgrKB79HD3QE

Pics and Vids / Re: Walgreens and EV Charging
« on: June 13, 2012, 05:24:46 AM »
All the Walgreens around me (south of Los Angeles) have a level 2 charger but no level 1's. Any Zero owners know if that's coming?

Zero Motorcycles Forum | 2012 and older / WiFi Watt Meter?
« on: May 17, 2012, 02:09:09 AM »
With my 2012 S ZF6 coming in a week or so, I'd like to monitor my consumption from day one.
- What is the preferred meter people use? (only saw Kill-a-watt in a forum search)
- Are there internet capable meters available so I can monitor remotely? ie, defunct Google Power
TIA!

Called Zero today and they said they had a sneak peek test ride of the 2012 S (maybe more) in Scottsdale last weekend. Anyone get out to try it?
