Energica / Re: Good News?

The website is having issues, they are NOT shut down or out of business.
It's looking like some hosting issue bs.
I had this happen to my website a few weeks ago, some php bullshit got updated and it wasn't compatible with a few of my db's, so I had to roll back the version to get it back online because im too lazy/stupid to convert the tables over to the recent version.

anyways, it's a host issue NOT them going away afaik

aaron

I don't think you're right Aaron. Unfortunately. If a website is down for so long, my guess is it's over and out. As sad as it is.
Chris

I think you are right - this horse is dead. that's the end of it . whoever own an energica motorcycle needs to ride it carefully. there will be no parts available to fix them. and there will be no dealerships that will hold the software to read the internal computer. this is the problem with these advanced machines - no way to fix them at home.

I keep mine at max all the time and use the throttle to control my speed, only using brakes when I absolutely have to, or at the very final few feet of a stop so the bike is actually stationary stopped and not walking /creeping the last 10 feet of stopping.

At very best, the amount of power you will regain, is pretty much, what you put in at your last acceleration.   So on the highway when you are at a fairly steady speed, it won't do much for you but if you are in a bunch of stop and go traffic, THEN it can be a real help, because, instead of all those starts being burned up in the brakes, you are getting  some of them back, for the next go.

Learn how to throttle it for gentle, more, max, and don't just dump the throttle every time you have to slow down.  Slow even steady movements both on brakes and throttle make you a safer rider.  This goes for racing too.   trail braking into a corner at 135, coming down to about 90 before the lean in, using trail braking only, (ie your hard regen) it's an experience and a nice one too,  easy transition, good lean and you are always loaded up on the tires and as soon as you are pointing the right direction, ready to twist the throttle again.   Grabbing brakes, straightens you up, bye bye lean angle and turning / maneuverability.  It's helpful in shitty weather too, because pretty much ANY decent braking on the front tire, if that starts to slide, yah, buh bye.

Aaron

i agree about the stop and go traffic - thats why in the city i turn it on . because moving between modes is so easy I do it all the time just 2 buttons to push and thats it .

I also have regen always at level 3. Works great for me. I also tend to disagree, that the value is limited. If you go downhill 1000m, I think you physically gain 1 kWh (depending on your weight). On my Experia this is roughly 5%. If I keep the throttle between coasting and full regen with no breaking I can gain ~2-3% SOC. Although this is difficult to calculate since the Energica only gives full SOC percentage the efficiency is still remarkable

You ever saw the SOC increase?? I never saw it increase even 1% . but I also never had 1 km downhill . i think 1km downhill on brakes will damage the brakes so with or without the SOC increase I would use the regen

Energica / Regen question
« on: July 01, 2024, 09:26:45 PM »
On my SS9 I use regen OFF on highways and in the city i set it on Medium - just for the braking. IMHO The amount of energy the battery can get back is so small that its influence on coasting and smooth ride experience is not worth it.

Anyone else is riding the same way? Any thoughts?

Energica / Re: Energica should improve charging and system stability
« on: June 10, 2024, 11:35:28 AM »
thank you for your explanation. I wonder why Tesla and my BMW ce 04 don't have these issues . never saw my BMW struggle for hours to balance. I mean it's the same technology and same electrical theory .

6
The BMW Ce04 aint exactly flawless, after an extensive series of charging errors we had the charge controller replaced in ours...which would be a $4000 item out of war

I find the BMW much more stable unit . I can agree on the back lights - they are plastic that only waits to break but the rest is really hands down for the BMW . you push a buttons and the screens run in front of your eyes . everything works flawlessly . I don't think BMW is charging only to 0.8C . I read somewhere that they make their own batteries. compartment size is better than the zero compartment in the energica . but I don't really care about all that . i am talking about the stability of the system. the flow of the ride . i get msgs all the time about missing FOB key , to release the back brake , at 39% Limp mode , i got in both motorcycles cut offs ( on the ribelle it almost cost me my life the first time ) . So far zero issues with the BMW vs. so many issues with the energica . at least for me with the bikes I had .

I admit I got the BMW brand new and the Energicas came pre owned .

7
the Ribelle didn't reach 100% . would stop always at 96% after that 90%, 88% and back 96 . the ss9 gets to 100% but when I want to ride in the morning it starts from 98% . to day i was riding and at 39% i get the limp msg . I wish it was at 3% . 39% limp mode !

8
the only positive thing in the ordeal is the dealership that was great and wants to help. but what can they do when bike after bike fail? the problem is they are very far from me - like 5 hours drive so no immediate ability to come and get service .

9
both 43. well maybe I got the lemon ones .

Energica / Energica should improve charging and system stability
« on: May 07, 2024, 08:22:23 AM »
I bought ribelle 2023 with 1700 miles . got 3 cut offs . never charged to 100% . always some funny msgs about key not found and rear brake not released . returned to dealer who gave me 2023 ss9 with 6000 miles . again cut off and msgs about key and balancing issues where it takes forever to balance . also when it reach 40% suddenly drop in power and msg on the screen . you can be riding 70 MPH between trucks and the bike will lose power and go to some UM mode or something like that ! who is the idiot that thought it's a good idea to risk me like that?
in comparison I have the BMW CE 04 . what a pleasure . no balancing - no nothing . just take and ride . reliable . no funny msgs and no cutoffs and no sudden cut in power when reaching 40% . yes when you get to 20% the acceleration is weaker but no sudden drop in power . Energica should buy one BMW and ride it for few weeks and understand how electric motorcycle should be flawless .

the energica reminds my EUC unicycles made in china I used to ride . they try to push the largest battery available without the system around it that support it like good battery management and reliable power lines . and of course cut offs and people falling on their face .

the price of the BMW is half from the energica  - I am not even talking about the TFT screen in the BMW that looks so futuristic  - and you get in the energica a products that doesn't show the stability you expect from a 26,000$ product.
