General Discussion / Re: Introduction/bike programming question

Hollywood electrics is a bit closer, under an hour with good traffic.  However, because I really didn't like their communication, shop, or the work they did on the bike initially, I've been going to New Century Motorcycles in Alhambra instead.  I'm in Camarillo CA, it's not too bad if traffic is good, but that's rare here.

General Discussion / Introduction/bike programming question
« on: June 23, 2023, 12:36:12 AM »
Hello, I'm Derek Rowe, currently living in southern california.  In March of 2022, I ordered a 2022 FX from Hollywood electrics.

Since I took delivery of it, it has had a myriad of issues:
  • BMS Failure
  • Main fuse/controller failure
  • Belt sprocket splines failed at 3k mi
  • Firmware started causing power failures requiring reboots to recover from, cell phone app firmware update was not successful
  • Switched to chain kit at 6k mi, broke 9 spokes in 5 different rear wheels

It's been a year!  I now have the FXE/FXS wheels installed so I don't have to worry about spokes anymore.  However, now my ABS unit sees the same wheel speeds when it's expecting the rear to go faster.  This has made it way over-responsive to the rear wheel, and sometimes it just locks the lever back, so you can't press the brake at all.  Additionally, my tire size is slightly different now too (only by 3% though).  So, I'd like to update ABS settings and drive ratio settings.  I'm pretty tired of going back to the dealership at this point, they're an hour & 20 min to 2 hour drive.  If I could get control of these things on my own, I would be thrilled!  There are so many other settings I'd play around with too.

I've seen several threads on here discussing Sevcon DVT software and IXXAT CAN to USB interfaces, but I haven't been able to find a discussion that feels like a good place to start for someone who is electro/mechanically up to the task, but has no background knowledge of programming these bikes/controllers.  The closest experience I have is programming Castle Creations ESC's, but that company actually supports their end users doing this.  Is there a thread here which would be a good place for me to start learning, like a "guide" to Zero programming type thread stickied here somewhere?

Thank you!

Derek
