The mechanic measured my pads at about 50%. I'm set to go back in Nov anyways. I'll  do the pads at that point, and probably change the belt and put on different tires (something with a little softer compound).

I have a 2022 SR (SR/F Lite) with 10,700+ miles on the ODO, all local LA/OC miles with a mix of freeway, streets and technical canyons. No problems at all. Replaced the stock tires at about 6K miles with Dunlop Roadsmart IIIs. The Dunlops are wearing well, however they're much harder compound and don't give you nearly as much confidence in the corners, but they're sport touring tires anyway. Brake fluid was replaced at 2K miles and 10K miles (1 year of service and then again 1.5 years of service after the first change). Front brake pads are still at 50% (I used a lot of regen when stopping).

Just to make a clear distinction, I think Marin County is talking about electric dirt bikes like Surrons and Talarias which are not Class 1, 2 or 3 eBikes by definition. These bikes are capable of speeds of 40 mph in stock form and up to 70 mph if modified.

Down in Orange County California in some of the affluent beach communities they already impound those vehicles on-sight if caught on public roads/streets or bike paths.

I got into motorcycling from riding with FB groups in LA that were primarily adults that started on legal-ish class 2/3 ebikes but turned into groups of Onyx's and Surrons riding through DTLA and Hollywood. Individual municipalities in LA County are starting to crack down specifically on the Surrons, but enforcement has been irregular. The few of us that migrated to the motorcycle world are anticipating more crackdowns on what was once "Loophole Culture" where the cops didn't know what to make of these bikes.

I recall that one time on a big group ride from DTLA to Pasadena, we had a mother drop off a bunch of kids (maybe 12-13 years old at most) on Surrons to ride with us. At the time we really didn't know what happening, but when they were riding with us, they started doing crazy stuff like popping wheelies on the sidewalks with pedestrians walking. After that event we banned unaccompanied minors from riding with us. It still blows me away that some rich suburban mom drops a bunch of kids off to ride illegal electric dirt bikes in the streets of LA with a bunch strange men. 

It looks like they've realigned the Cypher Store prices to match the lower MSRPs. The two big upgrades for my 22 Zero SR (Performance Boost and 10% Extended Range/10% Overcharge capability) are about $500 cheaper than before.

I was reluctant to put any further money into my SR, but the price cut made me think again about the Performance Boost because it activates the 6 Axis IMU. I really wish they sold the IMU activation separate from the HP/Torque boost because it is a safety feature...

Zero had me uninstall the legacy app and reinstall it from the Play Store. Note that the older version's Cypher Store was broken. If you want to buy anything now, you have to upgrade.

Great News! I just saw on the Zero website that MOTO WERKZ is now an official service center for Zero's in the Los Angeles area, located in the mid-Wilshire area, not far from the old Hollywood Electrics.

Tyler was the mechanic for Hollywood Electrics before they closed and will be working on bikes from his business. Tyler does great work and is a legend in his expertise on these bikes. It looks like I won't have to schlep my bike all the way to Alhambra or OC for service after all!

It looks like they retired the 2022-3-style SR in favor of the new S? From the specs, the new S model looks the same as the 2022-3 SR except for the 14.4 Kw battery. There isn't any mention of the new S being Cypher Store "upgradeable" into an SR/F. Perhaps they're just dropping the unlockable content idea completely...

From reading the message and having recently been in the shop, I think Harlan's just closing things down. It sounds like he may have another venture up his sleeve, but it didn't seem like it was going to be another electric motorcycle dealership.
