Pre Update 42 I was sitting at 70 MPH on the dash and my GPS was very steadily 63 mph

After 42 70 on the dash, 66 on the GPS.

Still not perfect, but better.

Does anyone know what it costs to convert back from a keyless system to a keyed system?

after FW42 I'm consistently getting "Ket not in range" when first starting the bike, sometimes even when I have the fob sitting on the pickup itself.

Constantly get "key out of range" when riding and its just super frustrating.

Came on a pallet. Bank was Gesa. Came with a COO, but the WA DOL in my area would not take it and the bank took forever to process. I've bought a lot of other vehicles with them, always had license/reg inside a week.

I've heard a lot of home deliveries go on without a hitch. That was not my experience.

I ordered in March of '22.
Bike delivered to CA Customs from Mar 31 to May 25
Bike was at CA HQ from May 25 - June 13  (I attribute this to the Experia launch)
Bike was "enroute" from June 13 - July 1 when I finally said screw it, contacted the delivery company and drove 90 miles to pick up my bike myself from the warehouse that it was in for the last 14 days.

Picked up the bike and trailered it back home.

THEN I had a major issue with licensing.
the DOL/Bank took nearly 6 weeks to get my license plate and registration to me.

Overall it was a pretty frustrating process that I could have avoided by just going through a dealer instead. Unfortunately the nearest dealer at the time was almost a 5 hour drive away through an EMCE desert so I didn't have much of a choice.

As it cools off in my area a bit, I'm getting more motivated to do a bunch of sprocket changes again.

I'm putting together a loop with minimal stops and traffic and will be running on cruise control as much as possible. For speeds, I'm leaning towards doing 2 runs. One favoring the Speedo for Cruise control, one favoring GPS speeds, Just to see how things stack up, for a total of 4 runs.

Data Points to gather on each run:
1. Odometer reading vs GPS mileage reading
2. SOC at start/end
3. Wh/mi avg reading at a known point in the loop
4. Speedo vs GPS reading at 20/40/60 MPH dash

I realize these are only single data points, but I only have so much time/patience for this at this point.

Although I am struggling with one issue in particular - Insurance.  Specifically, unless I upend by bank account no one will touch it for anything other than silly money unless I get a BikeTrac fitted. So here is the question... Does anyone have any experience with a GPS tracker on any Energica bikes?  Does the slightly unusual 12v hinder installation of such a device to anyone's knowledge?

Hey, EEMC (Energica UK) are qualified to fit a tracker and have done mine, it has an internal battery that charges off the 12V system when it's on and lasts a month. If storing for a while just turn the bike on for a few hours every month to recharge the tracker.

Do you know the make of the tracker? That sounds like something I'd be interested in here in the states!

Hmm. That would be interesting. You're right, technically I think changing the gearing would interfere with the WH/Mi calculation. Thats why I also included my SOC for a known distance.

Let me talk through my interpretation of what you said about the wh/mi calculation..

Lets assume the motor has no knowledge of actual mileage, because I believe it does not. If I change the gearing, the electronics should have no way of knowing that the distance in a "mile" has changed. Now that we've corrected for mileage/speed by changing sprocket sizes, it would make sense that it takes more energy to go an actual mile because you're physically traveling further "per mile" according to the computer.


I'll go drive a larger, cruise control centric loop this evening and repeat it tomorrow evening with the different sprocket to see where I wind up with with SOC. That should at least get at the total electrons consumed while staying in as controlled an environment as possible. Will also note down any data I can find flipping through the menu's.
