General Discussion / Bike Frames / Ideas for a newcomer...
« on: January 13, 2022, 01:07:22 AM »
Hello.

I have been tinkering with ebikes for quite some time (48v - I have several of them) and now I am desiring something with a bit more range, and quite a bit more in power. I am considering something that is 72v 8000W, but I am not entirely sure what type of frame / bike would be suitable (or even a good idea) for use in conversion. The fork width would be about 150-155mm with 18" tires, and there are a lot of hub motors on the market with these sizes.

I have been looking at old bikes for hours, and I can see myself converting something like a smaller old Honda or something, but I'm wondering if you guys have any advice as far as starting out with picking a bike frame / old bike to use for conversion. I have someone that can machine parts for me, so I plan on having a custom battery enclosure, etc.

Anyway, I'd be very grateful as a newcomer if some people who have "been through the fire" so to speak can give me a heads up on types of bikes that are easy to convert. Thanks in advance. I will be reading a lot in the meantime.
