Confirmed.  Its getting its speed from the motor.  I disconnected the REAR abs sensor while on the stand and it indeed registered speed.   Now it just became a lot harder to change!  I guess I'll have to see if theres anything I can do on the odb2 interface or if I have to just live with it.

Has anyone attempted to calibrate their speedometer?  I was finally took my bike out for the first time.  Was having a hell of a time on the bike until I looked down and I realized I hit 110+.  I slowed it down but I seem to be averaging 80+ while riding with traffic.  Just didn't seem right.  I know traffic don't usually move that fast because I drive a really slow truck.

So I rode the bike again today but this time equipped with GPS to verify speed and sure enough the bike is off by roughly 10%. 

Has anyone tried installing a speedohealer?  I'm pretty sure due to regulations Energica was forced to do this.  What I'm not sure of is if there is a pulsed speed signal coming out of the Bosch ABS to the ECM OR if the speed is sent via a CAN bus.  If the speed is a pulsed signal we can use a spoeedohealer.. If speed signal is sent via CAN Bus , then I think my only option is to machine a new reluctor wheel with 10% less spaces. 

So with that said, hows everyone else dealing with this speedo issue?

Was looking at the specs of my Ego in the manual.  It uses the coolelf auto supra 37 which meets ASTM D3306 and BS 6580 among other specs.  Unfortunetly this coolant is not available in the US.   This particular coolant is a long life coolant. According to the pdf:

- contains no silicates, phosphates, chromates, nitrites or boron.
- is a «very long life» coolant based on monoethylene glycol and organic
inhibitors of corrosion.

But you can find a coolant on amazon in concentrate and 50/50 form that meets both ASTM D3306 and BS 6580.

I have to question why coolant was changed so early. Especially when the temperatures are not very high on this bike (I'm assuming, especially compared to a diesel truck).  But with that said, I did see a PEAK OET pink coolant on amazon for $25 in concentrate form, 1 gallon.   Says spec'd for Euro vehicles.

I don't know about the color of the coolant but my experience changing coolant for the diesel truck tells me there or OAT, HOAT, and IAT.  Not sure which one these bikes require or designed for. But in my cummins I was told to only use HOAT.

Doing a little research, looks like pink could be P-HOAT (Phosphated HOAT)..  These different type of coolants generally can't mix with each other fyi. 

Well after many months I received my Ego.  Stefano is incredibly nice, professional.  His team Chris and Laurence also provides excellent support post sales.   If your buying a electric your not only getting a great bike but great service and nothing better then to support these guys with your money.

I did have a couple issues. 
1.  Bike is tall and I'm short.  I had to lower the bike and fortunately the bike has ohlins and has ride height adjustments.  But with the bike lowered, the side stand needs to get modified.  I cut off 3/4" from the side stand and now the side stand works properly.  Had to use the lathe to create the inserts to connect the 2 halfs so after my weld, it should be stronger then it was.

2.  Thinkware sport m1 dash camera installed.   12V is wired to the factory harness via factory plugs (no splicing).  Energica uses weather proof connectors and the 12v is available on the 6pin connector.. 3.  The side stand switch is the same one used on the 1098 I believe.  The connector is super long and requires removal of most of the fairing to reach it which is silly.  I made a 4" extension harness so I don't have to take the bike apart just to replace the side stand switch.

I still haven't ridden this bike yet.  Hopefully I'll be able to right after I get the side stand back from powder coating.

I'm surprise you guys aren't in contact with Energica directly or even Arie from Calmoto.  Anyway bikes just cleared customs.  If you didn't order any fancy MY2023 colors then you'll get it soon.  As for me, I have to wait for the Tri-color fairing.  But atleast I should be able to physically touch the bike in the warehouse soon!
