Anyone got recommendations for ways to help a firmware update succeed? 3 fails in a row for me.

Same here.  Gets about 2 or 3 minutes in and just says there was an error and to turn bike off for 3 minutes and try again.  I have tried again about 10 times over the course of the past 2 days.  I give up...

1000 NM of torque?  Is that a misprint? That is something like 700 ft/pds of torque.

My 2020 SR/F has been in the dealer's service department for over 5 weeks now.  Zero has been slow to respond to each contact from the dealer (often a week to simply get a response), to the point where the dealer's service manager has been actively encouraging me to contact Zero directly myself.  I finally got downright aggressive with them yesterday.  As a result, the issue was escalated to Zero's director level, and now the correct part has been shipped overnight (they sent the wrong part the first time).  In theory, I might get my bike back next week, a month and a half after I brought it in for a simple "the bike won't charge" issue.

I'm technologically proficient, but I can't get a manufacturer service manual for the bike.  Zero is unresponsive to their own dealers, let alone the owners who purchase these premium bikes.  As a result, it is *IMPOSSIBLE* to repair this bike in any efficient manner.

I've been riding for nearly 50 years, and have never, ever experienced anything like this.

I sure enjoy riding this bike, but Zero is horrible.  As soon as Yamaha sells electric motorcycles, I'm gone!

So my no charge issue happened after about 3 months of ownership and was at the shop almost 7 weeks for repair.  Loved the bike for the first 3 months then once this debacle took place I do not really trust the bike anymore and find myself riding it less and less.  I am with you...Once big manufacturers start making electric bikes I am on it.

I had similar experience.  My 2020 SRS would not charge and it took 7 weeks in the shop.  Zero would say try this part then they would ship that part.  When that didn't work they would try another part.  and so on and so on.  In all it was 4 parts in total.  Each time takes a week and a half or so between conversation, diagnosis, then shipping time.  Its a very frustrating way to handle things.  And it has made me not trust the zero like I did before.

WOW... When my brake switch recall was done I called my dealer and told them what needed to be done.  They ordered the switch and when it came in I made an appointment and they swapped it out in 10 minutes.  I wasn't even done bullshitting with all the employees there and the bike was ready.  I can't understand what takes 12 days.

It seems like if they aren't sure a high priced part is faulty, they ought to have a test jig to attach it to. The customer bike should not be the only platform to determine if something works or not.

The worst they could do is have some central Zero shop, where suspect parts could be overnighted by the dealer and Zero could have representations of all motorcycle models. Not actual motorcycles, but assemblies for testing that represent the motorcycles, where all the parts can be plugged in and out easily. That way if they aren't going to break out voltages and signals for troubleshooting but merely use rote part substitution to solve issues, they can be sure parts are faulty before they ask you to pay for them.

It sounds like they told you to pay for parts to install that did not solve the problem. That's how I read it anyway. If that was the case, I would be VERY upset. If you are buying parts, be sure to tell them you want your old ones back, no matter what happens.

You would think that this is terribly expensive way to do things... Just heard from my dealer on my no charging issue.  On to part number 3...wiring harness of some kind.  Part one was the charging port..almost 2 weeks of time.  Then charger...another week and a couple of days.  Now this wiring harness is being ordered today which will take another almost week to get here then install.  It is the weirdest way to troubleshoot and fix something.  Really should have test mules or something like that at these dealers so they can determine first time what the problem is.  So aggravated.... >:(

Correct There’s no chip in the key and will not start the bike. There are lots of choices for knobs just search the web. Not difficult to cut down to fit and is secure in place and won’t fall out when riding. I’ll try to attach photos but not having good luck with that.

Awesome.  Thank You.

It’s a pretty easy fix. Saw it somewhere I just had an extra key made that doesn’t work the ignition. Cut it down and put it in a guitar tuning knob. I leave it in most of the time. I can post pics if needed.

So no transmitter in it!  Brilliant.  Could you post a pic?  TIA

Yeah I am not terribly happy about their process of elimination in just tossing parts at the problem.  My 2020 SRS is currently now on its 3rd week at the dealer waiting on a part to get to them that I am almost certain will not fix my NO Charging issue and am figuring another month to get the next part shipped and installed.  It astounds me that a company that is near the cutting edge of technology in this arena doesn't have a very straight forward and fool proof way of knowing what is going on with these bikes.  In my mind you should hook it up to a diagnostic computer and absolutely know whats going on.  Not keep chucking parts at it.

Just got the call from the dealer that the part they received was installed and low and behold does not fix the issue....So we go on to the next part to "try"  ::)
