Even though parts ordered by dealer on first day of recall, am now being told by Zero that parts backordered till June.

I contacted my local dealer in Fort Myers about having this done (21 S). He ordered parts from Zero that still aren't here yet. Dealer said this is low priority and gave me the don't call us we'll call you line. Emailed Zero a few days ago and got an email back saying they would check but want the part numbers ordered. Explained it was an always on OBD module bypass kit but didn't know the part and dealer is not responsive. Does anyone know the part number of the kit or where the part number might be available? thx

His bike would get stuck in charge mode often but he found that, with the bike keyed on and kickstand up, if he just rolled forward a full rotation or so the bike would go back into run mode.

« on: October 16, 2021, 07:53:34 PM »I have had a somewhat similar issue since day one in November 2018. On my Zero the green charging light stays on (a steady green) after the charger shuts down. Disconnecting the power cord will not turn the light off, even after a couple of days. The only way I can get it to turn off is to turn the ignition on and then off again and then it goes out as it should. I complained to my dealer at the 600-mile servicing, but they had no idea what to do about the light. So I just live with it. However, if I disconnect the power cord within 10 minutes of the end of the charging cycle, and the green light going steady, it will shut off as it should. Since there are no other problems with my Zero S with PT, I am not too concerned about the issue. It is just a little irritating. Apparently just a feature of my model.
Thx, good to know problem is not chronic. Only diff was that I tried turning key on/off several times and green light wouldn't go out. Initially it kept blinking green and then went to steady green. Haven't had it happen since.

Was over at Daytona yesterday and took a full charge on the charge tank across the street from the track. When done, I rode across the street, shut down and took in the vendors and displays for half an hour. When I turned key to leave the charge light started blinking and stayed on. Bike wouldn't run. I started to research on phone if anyone had similar issue and couldn't find anything. I was hoping for an easy way to reboot. Luckily, after about 20 minutes the light finally went out and bike (21 S), ran normally. My thought is that surface voltage was high and OBC thought it was plugged in for a charging attempt. Ran it quite a bit afterwards and recharged again with no further issues. Are there any simple ways to reboot system? thx

« on: August 09, 2021, 01:41:24 AM »...Since I've got fairly aggressive handlebar risers which move bars both up and back, the disconnect button on some J1772 plugs won't allow the plug to lock on fully...Fox 2-in risers work but only just barely; have to loosen to take the tank on/off. There's alternate DIY inlet locations if you can't make that work.
I took a ride to a chargepoint and it's got reasonable clearance now and worked fine. Curious as to what the alternate DIY locations are?

Had a charge tank installed on a 21 S at dealer last week. Discount I got on tank (due to purchasing bike there) covered most of install cost. Had an odd problem with it. Since I've got fairly aggressive handlebar risers which move bars both up and back, the disconnect button on some J1772 plugs won't allow the plug to lock on fully. I took the tank off today and put some bushings under the front of the charge receptacle to tip it back some which hopefully fixes the issue.

« on: June 29, 2021, 08:51:11 PM »Don,I made it home, see my new thread about charging in the heat. There is an app that shows battery heat, Zero Voltage. Charging stops when the battery gets to 50 C / 122 F.

I have heat issues, too, here in FL, when trying to do highway rides and charge. The lack of effective cooling has kept me from charging for upwards of 45min in the past.
A battery temp gauge to give some idea of when charging might be an issue would be great, e.g., if slowing down a bit to reduce battery temp would mean charging without waiting for the battery to cool when sitting still. I'm sure its a complex calculus, but just knowing when you're approaching the critical batter temp above which charging is not allowed would be great to know. On my bike at least, there's no indication (from the bike) of a critically high temperature after a fast / hard ride in the heat until one starts to charge.

Don, is that app accurate on the battery temp? Seems that if there were a temp sensor on the battery we'd be able to display that on the Zero display screen..thx

Interesting how the Zero MC display shows a speed. Assume it's tied into the motor rpm as it's inaccurate.

Good point on the cowling and that was pointed out in the article. Gabriel Devault of Zero Motorcycle is the builder of the motorglider. He used all of the stock parts in the aircraft kit, then bought a used 2018 SR for the battery, motor and controller. The cowling is a work in progress, they plugged the normal inlets and cut a hole (lower/center) to get air on the motor fins. They are still trying to match the inbound airflow vs the outbound and will eventually streamline the cowling further.

If you do need to modify the brake lever it's easily doable. Just remove the knurled shaft and add an extension (either up or down). I used aluminum angle. You can adjust out also, if needed by just adding washers. This is on an S, not sure of how much different other models might be.

I’m torn on the warranty voiding. How long will the dealership have my bike if I have them do it? Do they charge additional for the install or is it included in the price of the tank?
I had noticed on the facebook video (which was a dealer install) that someone asked the "how long" question and the response was that they charged for 3 hours. Sounds possible to wait for it instead of leaving it.
