Title: 2016 Zero DS w/ EMF Discount, Sacramento CA
Post by: motorrad36 on March 14, 2020, 12:43:16 AM
2016 Zero DS, about 13k miles plus since I still ride it occasionally. started its life as a 13.0kWh bike. The original battery was replaced with a 14.4kWh battery under warranty, so you get about as much range as possible without the power tank installed! I have dealer paperwork to back this up. It has the storage cubby still intact, newer front tire, brakes are in great shape due to regeneration in the controller. The height feels very natural. Has a touring windscreen and hand guards. Will include a jplug to C19 adapter for asking price. Currently registered through November. Please feel free to make an offer, I would like this sold by the end of the month.

I have multiple posts about things I've noticed with this bike. Currently, it is in the shop checking out why it was squealing in the belt area on acceleration. I am hoping deeply that this is a tension issue and not a motor issue. I will update the post when I hear from the dealer, if its a serious motor issue I will drastically lower the price, and if it is more of a tension thing the price stays the same. Other than that this machine is amazing. The belt is being replaced as soon as the shop receives a part delivery from Zero! The squeal is pretty much entirely gone.

Anyone from this forum who might be interested in purchasing- I will give you a significant discount!

Guess location and price would be useful information! Sacramento, CA and I am asking $9500 (before discount, and before hearing from the dealer)

Hi, Motorrad36,

I may be interested.  I can't get to your Facebook selling link (my facebook won't permit it).  Do you have another link or can provide the pics here?  Let us know what your dealer finds out with the bike.

Thanks,

Ryan

Sure thing, here are the pics. I have not heard back from the dealer in some time. I’m not sure if they’ve shut down operations due to corona.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. They say they’ve isolated the issue to a bad belt. However, they wanted to charge Me almost $500 to install a new one. I figured I could do it for a quarter of that. I will give an additional $250 discount on top of the planned EMF discount to any buyer if they want to take care of it or I will keep the price as is if I repair it (you still get the EMF discount ;) )

This may not sway anybody into a purchase, but after picking up the DS and riding it for a few days, I have to say I think the problem was 99% a rubbing belt. The sound is *almost* entirely gone. It barely squeaks under hard acceleration in sport mode. otherwise its about as quiet as my SR. There is no metal grind so I am fairly confident in saying it is not the motor having an issue. The belt should be here any day now. I will make a before an after sound clip for reference!
