Title: New Firmware update for Pre-SR/F bikes
Post by: JaimeC on March 10, 2020, 12:44:51 AM
Heading back to the office from lunch, when I synced my phone with my 2018 S I got an alert that there is a new firmware update available.  I'll likely install it after I get home this evening.  Thought I'd let you all know though.

It doesn't appear as though this page has been updated yet:

It always says that even if there isn't one, the app is broken.

No, this was a pop-up that never appeared before.  It gave me a choice to "Dismiss" or "Install."  I chose "Dismiss" because I had to get back to the office.  I'll know more tonight.

I just checked my app and it said that there was no new firmware updates available for my 2018 S.

Hmmmm... Alex could  be right... unless they stagger the alerts so as to not overload their servers...

Later:  Just got back from dinner and checked.  Yep, I DO have an update waiting.  Unfortunately, my phone didn't have enough of a charge to initiate the installation, and apparently the app doesn't care if the phone is actually plugged in AND charging when you check.  Oh well... guess I'll try some other day.  I'm working from home on Wednesday so maybe I'll set it up first thing in the morning.

Richard, I think I see why you aren't seeing anything.  The description says it has updates for the Charge Tank.  I have one, but you have the Power tank.  Perhaps that's why it isn't showing for you?

The updates are universal, everyone gets them. I've had the charge tank update available (wouldn't install last time I tried it), which isn't the new one this thread is on about by the way, even though I don't have one.

If it's a staggered roll-out it's perhaps done by region, or maybe by the model year of the bike.

I am going to try again today.  But I wouldn't be surprised if this is what is going on.  If you look at the descriptions of the previous updates on the Zero resource page you will see that several are for specific model configurations, such as bikes with a Power Tank, or Charge Tank, or for just the Black Forest Edition (that one I really don't understand).  ???

I just checked for my 2018 S with CT and no update for me either. These are the firmware versions that I already have:
MBB-29
BMS-36

What versions do u guys have?

If I recall correctly, those are the versions waiting to be installed on my bike...  I'll confirm this evening.

Same here, 29 and 36 also with ChargeTank. Updated them like 2 months ago. Update didn't go flawless though. Near the end the IOS app said it lost connection when the bike was restarting. Bike just had an LCD screen with everything lit up, and nothing happened. I had to manually turn the key to shutdown and restart the bike. That was very creepy... But bike started fine and app said that firmware was updated afterwards.

No update for me.  I have BMS version 35 and MBB version 27.

I can now confirm:  29 & 36 are the versions that are right now being installed on my 2018 S.  Since some of you had it already, Zero must be staggering out the release so they don't bury their servers.

Successful update!  And a FIRST:  The update actually completed successfully and the app actually told me that, instead of indicating the update failed only to discover it lied.  So I'm up to date.  I'll see tomorrow if there are any noticeable differences.

Now THIS is interesting!  I just happened to notice this morning when I set up my phone for my ride into the office that the update apparently reset the number of charge cycles.  It actually read "0"!  Hard to believe for a bike that'll be two years old in October with almost 12,000 miles on the odometer already.  Has anyone else noticed this?

I have noticed that with every firmware update that I have received for my 2018 S.  It also starts the range estimator at 220 miles when I first start out riding at slow speeds. Naturally, after a few rides it returns to a more realistic estimate.  Apparently, updates scramble the MBB's memory a bit.   ;)

Still no updates for my bike, so I am pretty sure the subject update is only for bikes with the Charge Tank.
