Title: Delivery dates on ss9+/ribelle/ego+ ?!
Post by: ALCLCF on February 26, 2020, 12:38:59 AM
For those that ordered last year....anyone with one already?

What's the estimate your dealers are giving you?

Is the China/Italy Coronavirus going to delay production/delivery?

No bike yet for me. Still patiently, impatiently waiting.  ;)

There was a new Ribelle with the big battery at the electric meet on Sunday.

So they're in the wild!

as stated here: https://www.energicamotor.com/PDF/investors/ecs-20200218.pdf they said orders should start to roll out on end of april

Quote from: Livia Cevolini, Energica Motor Company CEO
“With the launch of the new MY2020 range, which
improves both driving range and power while reducing the weight, our bike gave an answer to the
market needs as shown by the order backlog, which in less than eight weeks has reached the
numbers of the whole 2019 year. In order to satisfy the customer requests and shorten delivery
times – which are now expected within the end of April 2020 – we are increasing our internal
production capacity also thanks the strong support from our network of partners.

Modena should be in lock down with the virus....so those that don't get it in following couple of weeks, will have to wait.

Modena should be in lock down with the virus....so those that don't get it in following couple of weeks, will have to wait.

I don't know how the lockdown affects them in detail, but workplaces haven't been closed down in general so far, and travel to work is permitted for not-at-risk employees.

Energica announced (https://www.energicamotor.com/13944-two-new-production-shifts/) today that they've added two new production shifts, increasing production by 50%.
Goods transport is explicitly allowed so far, including through national borders.

Since the announcement explicitly references the lockdown decree from Sunday (before the Italy-wide one), hopefully that means production can continue.

What is likely the bigger overall concern is that in case of a global downturn/recession, people tend to delay/cancel large non-mandatory purchases, and high-end electric motorcycles would count.

Woohoo sounds like the container is arriving at Long Beach this week!  Depends on customs and shipping, but might possibly be a week.  Small batch, must be selling a lot in Europe.

news from Energica:

Energica operations keep going!

Energica, in compliance with the restrictive precautionary dispositions imposed by Italian government, officially increased the shift due to the relative increase in production volumes.

Following the growth of the 2020 order backlog that reaches the 100% of the total order of 2019, the Company has decided to intervene on the production-area work shifts in order to cope with the success of the new MY2020 range.

Livia Cevolini, CEO Energica Motor Company, said: “We decide to increase our production capacity in order to satisfy customer requests and shorten the delivery times of the new MY2020 range.”
“It was necessary to intervene on the work shifts, doubling the current ones. With this plan, starting from Monday 9 M arch and in compliance with Italian government decrees, 2 daily shifts will be added, which allows Energica a production increase of at least 50%, up to 100% with a ramp-up of around one month”.
"The first batch of motorcycles from Italy have arrived this week in The Netherlands".

I can only speak for the Netherlands, yes they are still open.

No complete lockdown (yet, every day it can change offcourse)

So they can deliver, with special care, social distance and so on.
No idea how long. But thats the status of today.

It's not quite news at this point since they published it 10 days ago & I posted (http://posted) it in this thread. Lots has been happening in Italy since  :(
However, at least as of 3 days ago, it appears they were still manufacturing (https://www.roadracingworld.com/news/energica-motor-company-still-producing-electric-motorcycles-in-italy/). This contrasts with Yamaha & Ducati, who have suspended production, as have some others (https://motorbikewriter.com/virus-forces-motorcycle-factory-closures/), but not all.
Not sure about Italy's automotive plants, pretty much all of which are in the North, like the motorcycle industry.

My dealer called me today. Mine got stuck somewhere in transportation between Spain/France/Italy due to lock down....supposedly arrives now within 15 days. Understandable and anyways I wouldn't ask the dealer to go on a +500km trip to deliver it during this pandemic (hope they charged it a bit, though)

2021 SS9+

First in North America, I'm told.

Thanks Energicamotorusa.com and CalMoto.

Proper social distancing procedures were followed. It was odd to finalize a vehicular transaction with no hand shaking.

> Like many people, to be sure, I'm curious to hear what range/efficiency you get after you've had it a while  :)

The day I picked it up, 150 Wh/mi average, as high as 250 Wh/mi (it's so easy to go too fast on this bike), 166mi range shown at 79% SoC.

I do intend to do some controlled runs to calibrate at different speeds, and then with windshield, but I'm following shelter in place guidelines to limit unnecessary travel, and of course it's wise to be extra-safe right now what with the hospitals being potentially overwhelmed.

At least two 2021 "plus" models have been delivered to North America.

The first shipment was smaller than energicamotorusa wanted, and covid19 will probably delay the next (larger?) shipment.

I *could* already pick my SS9+ up aswell at my Dealer in Austria, unfortunately due to covid i cant get it to get it registered nor to get it delievered to me as there are no spedition which could deliever the bike
The bike got delievered there 2 weeks ago.

The most weird thing I spotted yet is that the paper says it only weighs 165kg, do they exclude the battery pack?

Hi ALCLCF, Yes indeed it seems Energica did not really follow a FIFO principle for the orders...

For what it is worth I just received an e-mail from my dealer stating that my bike (EVA Ribelle) is expected to start production before mid-may. I ordered early december, from Belgium.

So fingers crossed the wait is soon over!

Regarding US deliveries, I'm told a shipment will leave soon with delivery to the east coast in late June or early July. Seems kinda crazy that they ship to the west coast then disperse.

Hard to say but I would guess European deliveries are probably more accurate since it's shipped via land (unless you're in Ireland or some other European island). Since US shipments are by boat I would guess that makes delivery estimates fuzzier.

Again...just my guess. Don't take it as the definitive truth. ;)

Suppose it‘s sitting there somewhere waiting for transports to be organized...
In two weeks I‘ll be leaving for a 3-wk family vacation in the Alps. Wife & son will be riding horses, my plan is to go there with my bike and take off every few days for a day or two. Let’s see it the plan will work out okay. Worst case scenario will be I‘ll have to take an old Yamaha TDM while two days into my vacation the bike it ready for pick-up.

Energica still use coolant and oil, so yes.

It's more to catch metal filings than fluid degradation, looking at Sam's video.

For an electric bike, Energicas are somewhat high maintenance. They have tranny fluid and coolant to change. But I see no reason why the home mechanics cannot do all this work themselves. You can get the manuals sent to you in pdf,  from where you buy the bike, explaining how to do such stuff. I am  210 KM (131 miles)  from  the closest  Energica shop and that is only because they moved closer to me than when I purchased the bike.

For those here is CA:

I just received an e-mail from  Cal-Moto in Livermore:

"The 21.5 KWH models have arrived. "

My Ribelle is (vin) #0072 - I was told it arrives Sept-7 in CA via Panama Canal so very likely we have sister bikes!

/Steve

Thanks !

I will ask if the dealer know the vin.

I should get my Ribelle (0049) this Tuesday (US). I’ll confirm if that date holds true. I’m really stoked to get the new bike after riding an SS9+ even if I can only do pleasure rides. ;)

I was just notified the VIN on my Ribelle is 0078, expected here early September in Houston.

The dealer has just sent me a message that my Ribelle could be delivered in the week of 17 August, bit dependent on when he receives the bikes papers  ;D.

I do not have to wait for any registration, wen the bikes papers are at the dealer I can get the bike. I just need to email my insurance company and give them
the brand and chassis number, licenses plates I have enough :) . Or I take the trailer, then it is all it takes.

Thank you for indicating your delivery status.  No joy here as I'm getting mixed signals regarding what was agreed to for frame color and what was communicated to the factory, RE: Ribelle 0072.

Energica going dark on this subject makes me think they are very busy so waiting for a confirmation is difficult - my worst fear is that the situation went from just-in-time to rework-hell which can be compromising...I hinted if mistakes happened I'd still be happy w/ red but sales people don't get it...(sigh).

One thing for sure, there's no magic in this world - it's the customer that ultimately pays.

@PWM, I believe Energica HQ shuts down for a couple of weeks in August so that might be a reason for communication issues.

@PWM, I believe Energica HQ shuts down for a couple of weeks in August so that might be a reason for communication issues.

Only one week:
All Energica HQ offices will be closed for summer break from August 17th to August 21st included.

Normal longer closed however because of the delay caused by COVID-19 only a short period this time.

My dealer also told me maybe mine Rilbelle will be ready end of this week (fingers crossed) So with Transport it should also be in the Netherlands next week.

But still no 100% sure, it will not be the first time something goes wrong somewhere in the line. I don't know the VIN either.
But dealer said VIN is not that important the options have also impact on delivery date.

Will keep you up to date if there is a green light on Friday, Marchel (from electricmotorcycles.nl ) will jump in his car with trailer and will pick them up at the factory.
Great dealer it is  :)

Now fingers crossed that this week the bikes are ready (it has been a long time... )

Just got feedback from my dealer... the Certificate of Conformity arrived last Friday, under "normal" circumstances the bike is just one or two days behind the documents. So I am hoping to receive another call from him tomorrow, latest Wednesday this week. Man, I'm more excited than an 8yr-old on xmas eve... ;D

The call was in fact an email. My SS9+ arrived at the dealer already today :D. CoC is mailed, now hoping to get it registered later this week. Pickup planned for Friday/Saturday.

Conclusion:
Estimated duration from placing the order till delivery: 9 weeks
Actual duration: 11 weeks

To my surprise, the Ribelle I ordered is on the boat.

Kudos to Energica for great attention to customer service.

Indeed, there was a glitch with my request for black frame color as my bike was into production when the request was made.

Anyway, deductive reasoning indicates I was issued a new VIN because the options ordered for wheels and suspension will be installed in California - Energica scrambled to  get my bike on the boat and I have to say, I'm genuinely impressed at the effort and intent to satisfy.

Happy dance ensues...thank you to Laurence and Stefano for making this happen.

I am pretty sure that you wouldn't get that kind of service if you were purchasing a BMW motorcycle.  ::)  Congratulations!  :)

Congratulations!

Speaking from experience, you're going to love the power of the new Ribelle not to mention the easing of range anxiety. A word of caution...even with traction control maxed out, my Ribelle is able to get the front wheel light when taking off hard from a stop and I come in around 260lbs fully geared up. Take it easy with the bike until you get used to the torque it puts down. I've been riding a 13kw Esse Esse 9 for almost a year and this Ribelle is still catching me off guard at times with the power difference.

Let us know how you like it after you've gotten some miles on it.

Thanks also for the warning, I will certainly keep you all informed about my findings. I am used to motorbikes, have raced a lot with the Yoshimura Suzuki Superbike and have always ridden such bikes, but I always take the time to get used to a bike before I push myself to the limit.

My SS9+ made it to Virginia last Wednesday. Finally got to ride today. 600lbs was a little intimidating at first, but started to get comfortable fairly quickly. Definitely a step up from the SR/F I had before in terms of ride and handling on rough roads. And Brembo brakes, ahhh!

I think that remains the very thing that is under-realized by most people when comparing the Zeros to the Energicas: Power, weight, range, maitenance etc are one thing, but the fact that Energica is so well equipped and finished means that you can actually dare to use this power. I find myself much more comfortable diving deep in corners, hard braking etc than I ever felt on my Zero...And it is still the early kms...

Not to pick on Zero riders, but what I have witnessed often is they treat their bike like a very expensive electronic device or toy. I see more Energica riders treating it like an actual motorcycle; ride hard, charge quick, do it again. And again. And again.

There is a lot more fretting about battery health, may be residual from earlier versions.

I would say they do not compare well, but I like them both!

Indeed, red on red looks awesome the equal of stealth grey w/ black frame, IMO.

BTW - I was informed of a communications glitch and my grey Ribelle shipped w/ red frame after all.

When informed, Energica included the option to make it right, so the wait continues...kudos anyway.

Thanks MoneyFor for sharing...have you given thought to naming her?

How about Stella?  Not only is it Italian, it represents the stellar execution on your part - we are happy for you.

Thanks guys !

I have to much bikes to give them names, I would not remeber them afterall or I need to write the names on the bikes ;).  Did allready a few small mods
like the windscreen, bar-ends and short brake lever, still more to come. Also today I had the faultcode B1007 for the second time in 2 days, will need to
keep an eye on it. The code stands for right indicator shortcut but the indicator works flawless.
