Title: 2016 grips dont fit?
Post by: Rangerx52 on December 31, 2019, 12:58:54 AM
Dunno what I'm looking at here.

My bar is 7/8, I replaced it with an identical bar. The clusters all fit fine, I went to put my new grips on, which were 7/8ths, and it was sloppy. Reeeeeal sloppy. Like a 16th of clearance, the grip spins freely. I tried with a stock zero grip, and an aftermarket. As I looked closer, the grip on the throttle wasnt pushed all the way on, so it makes me think the shop that had the bike used something wonky size-wise. I reused the old grip, which fit fine. But a 7/8 grip is too sloppy. Am I supposed to use a metric one or something?

7/8" should be 22mm, but that's all I can think of. Got some photos?

Sounds like the new grips are not 7/8" (22mm) I.D.
1/6" clearance on a 7/8" bar = 1" I.D. grips.

Grips are 2 different sizes. The throttle side is larger ID to go over the throttle tube and the left side is 7/8” or 22 mm. They may have forced the left side over the throttle tube. Spray the bars with Aqua Net hairspray which allows you to slide the grips on and will dry and “glue” them in place.

Friends, can you tell me the inner diameter of the grips on the steering wheel on the left and right? Cycle - Zero S 2014

Yes, left and right are different.   I replaced the grips on my 2017 FXS by purchasing new ones from AF1.   No problem with fit.

I think the left is 22mm, right 24mm.
