Title: E bike project
Post by: timlooker on September 09, 2019, 05:18:02 PM
Hi,

I'm looking to convert my motorbike to electric for a project and to go green. Does anyone know where or if it is possible to buy a Z force 75-7R brushless motor?

Thanks in advance.

I don't believe that Zero will sell any of their drive train components, including their motors, to the average "Joe".  My guess is that they are concerned about their liability if a project goes haywire and someone gets hurt.  However, sometimes they will provide a specialist company with their motors and batteries if they will be creating a custom vehicle for display.

If you want one of their motors you will likely have to source one from a private party or from a salvage yard.  And that won't be easy, considering how few Zeros are in the wild with that motor.

Great thanks for the information Richard230, that's what I suspected.

Do you know of any manufacturers which will supply brushless motors for motorbike builds to the general public?

Thanks.

You might try asking your question on this forum:  http://www.elmoto.net/forum.php

They specialize in ICE to electric motorcycle conversions. They also have a "Motor" sub-forum which has previous posts that might help you. Right now there are 30 people watching that forum.   ???

Hi Timlooker.
This is coming from a nonproject type guy but have you priced used Zeros?
I want to say a replacement motor from Zero costs about 3k.  That of course is just part of it and depending on what your battery is going to be your looking at 8-10k if you want anything close to Zero ability (speed and range and road legal).
That being said a used Fxs or older S style bike is in the 6-8k range and ready to go.

Just a thought.

Not a bad idea.   :)
