Title: National Drive Electric Week, September 14-22, 2019
Post by: ctrlburn on September 01, 2019, 08:51:36 AM
Watch this site for events near you and join in to raise awareness:  https://driveelectricweek.org/index.php (https://driveelectricweek.org/index.php)
National Drive Electric Week, September 14-22, 2019, is a nationwide celebration to heighten awareness of today's widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. They are fun to drive, are less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles, are better for the environment, promote local jobs, and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Are you considering going electric? Come talk to owners who have successfully done so.

We already have 43 Zero Motorcycles Registered!   (2 Brammos pevid=21, 0 Lightnings pevid=55, 3 Energitica's pevid=91 & 92)
https://driveelectricweek.org/event-vehicle.php?year=2019&pevid=20 (https://driveelectricweek.org/event-vehicle.php?year=2019&pevid=20)

2018 was 98 Zeros and 2017 was 93!  This might be the year with more than 100 Zeros?

I'll be attending the events in Exeter NH and Portsmouth NH with my SR/F (on the 15th and 22nd respectively).  My wife will be bringing the Honda Clarity PHEV (great car).

I'm trying to contact electric motorcycle riders in the Sacramento area, or dealers in the Sacramento area.

Our Drive Electric display will be in Davis on Sept 21.  You can contact me directly at jim-davis@mail.com.

Yesterday I received a message from the San Francisco NDEW organizer that their event, for which I am registered to display my Zero, has had so many requests for entry of automobiles that they are having to limit the length of display times and they are warning that people showing up to display their EVs may be turned away due to the site's parking lot not being large enough to accommodate all of the entry requests.  Kind of makes me wonder where the visitors who are supposed to be checking out the EVs will park?  This could end up being a typical SF mob scene.  ???

Two down, one to go.  Portsmouth NH this Saturday.  Exeter NH and Kitter ME were cool last Saturday and Sunday.

Anyone else up for a visit to downtown Portsmouth?  We'll be in the Bridge Street Parking lot from 9-12.

It was good meeting you Jaime.  Please keep me in the loop if you hear of events like this.  It was fun.  I may end up swinging by the classic car show Saturday at Tobay beach.

On a (4-wheeled) road trip coast-to-coast USA. Tried the Zero dealer in Chicago today to show my old friend in town there an EV moto but they had no Zero there to demo or even look at. Got them on a Tesla Model X test ride which was super easy to set up - wish Zero was that easy to get a test ride for. Happen to be in Portage IN tomorrow 9/19 so will show off the car (off-road Model 3). Notably there's no Reno NV event listed this year maybe due to the newest sponsoring organizer not able to elect a replacement and unable to fulfill the requirements.

So... if you're near Chicago and can get over to Portage IN tomorrow 9/19 I'll be there. Would be really fun to see some EV moto types. There's two free use 40A L2 stations real close by.

Also I'll probably check out the 9/22 NDEW in State College PA.

...You're still the only Zero registered.  They should bump a duplicate Leaf or something.  Sheesh ^-^

Hope you have fun.  I'll make it as far as... San Jose.  I have prior engagements.  But this will be my first time riding somewhere I have to charge to get back from!

I can't make it to the Atlanta event but I've ridden 4 out of 5 days this week to work so that counts.  :)

I rode in today, 38 degrees F for 50 miles.  It's official, I am a fair weather biker...

From my perspective the San Francisco NDEW event was a dud. When I arrived at 11 am (the official start time) there was one other electric motorcycle there, a 2013 DS.  He left after 30 minutes. I stuck around for 90 minutes before giving up and leaving.  I just had one person stop by and check out my Zero. Most of the people there were either displaying their cars or manning a popup selling one thing or another. Very few visitors seem to be wandering about. There was also one e-bike vendor. Most of the action was adjacent to us, where hundreds of local residents were attending the 25th Sunset District Fair.

The NDEW event last year, located in San Mateo had about three times as many vehicles displayed, including the Energica importer, a cop Zero, and a couple other Zeros, besides mine.  You would have thought that the San Francisco event would have been better attended.   ???  Photos attached.

There was one vendor who was pushing a new app that might be of interest to someone.  It is called the "ampup" and claims to "Accelerate EV Adoption, share your charger"; "Choose reservation schedule, pricing and pay-out"; "CARma Points -earned credits for future charging and charitable donations". ($10 off when you make an account with code: NDWLA1)  The front of their handout says that the app provides "Stress Free EV Driving", Skip the hunt, guarantee your spot with a reservation".

Not something that I am interested in, though.  However, the vendor did seem to know a lot about electric motorcycles so that was a plus.  I talked to him for about 10 minutes until another potential customer dropped by and I took off.

Naturally, I’m unable to support local EV events while I’m recovering from my injury and my DSR is a total loss. Thanks for showing up.
