I solved that problem (after a test ride on the SR/F) by buying the Energica SS9 instead. MUCH more comfy than the SR/F in countless ways, at least to me.
I don't think there is much you can do with the SR/F, but perhaps somebody will figure out something as that was the main thing I didn't like about the SR/F as well.
While I thought the SR/F performed very well, it was one of the most uncomfortable bikes I have ever ridden. The high foot pegs was the main reason. The riding position was another. But the seat seemed to be better than on my SR and DS.

I suggest talking with an experienced machinist.
Having the right materials and the machines to work it goes a long way.
On my initial ride I thought "how awful" of the foot peg's location but I quickly got used to them and I am OK with them now.
The one thing I did though, was replacing them with pegs that have a soft rubber top. Found 2 on eBay:

And all I had to do was replace the mount stubs with the OEM ones. A bit of work but I enjoy doing these kinds of mods to fix something that bothers me.
They provide a better grip for the shoes and even absorb some vibration.
If anyone is interested I'd be glad to post some pics but I am sure most people think I am nuts doing something like this.
To me, the big deal was the handlebar: could not get used to being so low and I ended up replacing it with one a lot higher.
A heck of a lot more comfortable now, being able to sit up straight (my back thanks me on every ride).
Another thing I could not stand was the kickstand being so short so I made a "bootie" nearly 1 inch in height. Now, the bike's inclination when on a level surface is just right.
I have a small lathe and milling machine and was able to make these things myself.
A good machinist would have no trouble making some sort of extension or base to lower the pegs and/or move them forward by certain amount.
It might not be cheap but then again neither are the SR/Fs

I would like to change the handle bar also, for the same reason (being more straight, more comfortable). Which model did you replace with? Is it easy to change or maybe better to ask to my dealer (there are cables and some sensitive stuff around the handle bar).

The problem in the above picture is there is no kickstand. The stock kickstand looks like it will get in the way of lowering the peq unless it is moved outboard an inch or more. Also, in the picture you see a custom mount that goes around the motor pulley replacing the stock rider and passenger foot peg support assembly. The right side bracket would be fairly easy to make. The left side will require a plate with three varying length spacers to get the peg in the correct place. I have seen some adjustable pegs available on the web that might be able to be used if we knew what motorcycle the stock SF/R pegs came from. They replace the stock peg with a multi-adjustable bracket that allows the peg to be moved in a 360 degree arc around and offset bracket which attaches to the factory mount. However they are both bike specific and usually are intended for the passenger peg so without knowing the source motorcycle for the SR/F pegs you would need dimensional specs for the aftermarket adjustable peg kit.
