Title: Adding second onboard charger Standard SR/F
Post by: noyesknifer on August 27, 2019, 11:04:45 AM
I know that the premium SR/F comes with two 3kwh charge units, and the standard only comes with one.  Is there a way to add the second 3 kwh charge unit to the Standard SR/F?

I would assume so, but isn't there a 6KW charge tank available for the SR/F?  That will give you 9 KW instead of 6KW and perhaps even be easier and cheaper to install.

Of course this will ruin any future plans for a power tank.

So I ended up calling Zero and they do have a 3kW rapid charger, and it's priced at $1,700.  The part number is 10-08224 but I can't find the part anywhere on the internet, so maybes its something only a dealer can buy.  I guess the dealer can add the 2nd 3 kW option if you wanted to do it.

When I was going to buy up an SR/F, this was my understanding of how they could be configured:

Standard: one on-board 3kw charger + 3kw rapid charger OR power tank
Premium: two on-board 3kw chargers + 3kw rapid charger OR power tank

I don't remember the option to add a second on-board 3kw charger to the standard SR/F. I don't see why one couldn't be installed but that's what I remember the options were.

I think you're getting the 3kw rapid charger confused with the charge tank, which is an extra 6kw charge that goes inside your tank storage compartment.  But yeah I talked to zero customer support and they said the dealer can add an onboard 3kw charger.

You are correct...I am confusing things. ;) My references to the 3kw rapid charger should have been to the 6kw charger that goes in the "tank".

dealers can add the extra 3kw charger from a Premium into a base model.   It is cheaper to buy a Premium model up front though.

some people may want to do this because it doesn't effect the storage, and still allows a power tank to be added (extra batt) later.  Adding the optional-for-all SR/F 6kw rapid charger does take up almost all of the storage compartment.

It is not available yet but AF-1 has the charger listed:

They would be a lot better off to NOT show an incorrect photo.  No photo would be a lot better.

The photo of that charger will only cause confusion.
