Purchased Wuxi Stanford DP Racing direct from factory on Alibaba. 5000W (8000W peak) Have done 48 miles on a charge (72 volt lithium ion). Top speed 65mph. Great bike, and only $2380 delivered to my driveway including all customs and freight. My only issue is with the instrument cluster. It shows speed in km, a fluctuating voltage that seems to respond to throttle input, Kms traveled, and total kms. The #s 1-4 and a swoosh colored from green to red do not light up. Therefore, I do not have an obvious way to determine the range remaining on the battery. Does anyone have a similar issue, and how do you deal with it ?

Welcome, cobeighb. I have never heard of the brand and I hate to say it, but I have never heard of Alibaba, either. Sounds like a fair price, though. Where are you located? Can you post a photo of the bike? My guess is that the bike's voltage display should tell you something about the power left in the battery pack. You may have to rely on trial and error to determine the bike's range. ???

Thanks for the response. I am in Vermont, which “ain’t flatâ€, so I was pleased to go 48 miles. Alibaba is China’s Amazon. As for the voltage reading, when the throttle is closed, the reading is a steady #, which decreases as kms are covered. I guess I will have to rely on that reading as it approaches 72 volts, which is time to head for the shed. Don’t want to find out range the hard way, pushing 250# down the road.

Alibaba is the Amazon of the eastern world. AKA we got everything.
Cobleighb, the voltage will "sag" and rebound when to go and stop. The Zero's most of us have on here will go from 116V fully charged to about 95V when it's at 0% state of charge or SOC. For a Zero full battery street bike that's around 110 miles depending on how you ride it.
Find those two voltage points (high and low since yours is 72V) on your bike and you can guess your range from that.
Note: don't drain it down too often try to leave a 10-20% bottom end for longer life.

Thanks for the voltage info. When fully charged it reads 84-85 volts, but when I Unplug it, it drops to 81. Someone from the factory said to not let it drop below 74. So,If I never let the low/throttle off voltage drop below 74, I should be good. After 48 miles it was at 76.
Buying a bike directly from the factory in China seemed sketchy, but, for $1680 plus another $980 for all fees and freight, I thought it was worth the gamble. So far, so good.

That is one of the best looking electric motorcycles I have seen. All it needs is a larger battery and a more powerful power train and Wuxi would have an EV market winner. :)

Yeah I think of bikes like this when people say how very expensive it would be to make fairings for other bikes (cough Zero).
That bike seems perfect for China or India and some of their traffic issues.
I wonder how long it will last and how it could be repaired but at that price you could forgive a few issues.

Anyway back to the OP.
What is your charge time? I'm guessing only level one charging but maybe they have made super cheap level 2 charging too.

Not sure on the charge time. I plug it into the wall after riding and it charges over night. Factory says 8 or less. As for the lighter, based on my communications with the factory in China, which were an exercise in code interpretation, I’m guessing maybe it could be “literâ€. That having been said, their English is a hell of a lot better than my Chinese. Who knows. I have not been following the other threads, so can’t comment on the jokes.

I thought that too but then remembered Lightning aren't actually selling a bike.
That said, I'd be paranoid to ride a Chinese EV motorcycle from an unknown brand, although I'm sure the parts are made out of the finest Chinesium.

The joke is on Lightning Motorcycles which is making some, lets just say unverifiable claims, about some bikes they are trying to sell from a collaboration with a factory in China.
I'll leave you with a few tips for safety. You may want to get a Kiil-A-Watt wall socket meter to see what the bike is doing while charging.
These will show you your total kWhs used every time you charge. If you plug your charge cord into the meter and then plug the meter into the wall, it will reset the stats when you unplug it from the wall. This will help you find out you battery capacity and long term health.
It shows your socket voltage and the amps your pulling during the charge cycle. A Zero will drop the amps as it gets near 90% SOC to keep the battery form over charging.
Feel for any "hot" zones from the cord or the bike's battery or charger. Warm is ok but if it's getting too hot to hold on to there could be problems.
Also just a heads up you will lose range when it gets colder. Like 20% or more. I don't know how low you like to brave a ride in but under 30F I just wouldn't take it out. Lithium Ion batteries don't like to be used or charged in sub freezing temperatures.
To be honest if you had asked people on the forum if you should have bought the bike most would have told you no because of the reputation for cheap electronics from China but things do get better and will reach a tipping point of value for use. If you can get 10-20k miles out of it with out many issues then you win. There is no electric motorcycle, even used, for that low of a price made in the US or Italy.
Since your ok with the speed and range for your use it very well could be a fantastic deal for you.

Growing up in Middlebury, Vermont, I remember my father’s reaction to the cheap, poorly made toys from Japan in the local Ben Franklin. He had fought “the japs†in WWII, and wanted nothing to do with them, and forbid me to own any such toys. Well, here we are today. Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Sony, etc. I suspect the same will happen with China, if it already hasn’t. I realize I am taking a gamble with the inexpensive Chinese motorcycle, but life is a gamble, and having owned a 1977, R75/7 for 90k, I know there will always be issues that will have to be dealt with. I consider this bike to be a toy that I am having fun with for the moment. That outlook may change if the lithium battery torches up between my legs as I’m going down the road. FYI - guess what country the most highly recommended by Amazon killawatt clone is made in.

I agree and for the record I welcome our new Chinese overlords and would very much like an indoors job. :)
I was going to give the Japan history but I see you already know it.
You seem to have the right attitude toward it and all kidding aside it's a great test subject for how far along they are on their improvements.

Pushed the envelope to 80kms or 49.7miles. The voltage readings 1) under load 2) throttle off were converging at around 76 volts. When I hit a steep section, the under load dropped to 72 and the lights went out. Walked it around to face downhill. Heading downhill with no load, the voltage went back to 76, and I was able to make it the 2 miles home. When I plugged it into the charger the reading was at 76. The factory stats claim 50 miles is the maximum range. Looks like they were right on the money. Lucked out and now know the range (with a minimum of pushing)
Photo shows the jagged slash across the bottom of the battery box. Changing the lead acid battery for the lithium at the factory was done by cutting open the battery box with a saw. Crude but got the job done.

Never ride in the rain or after it rained or if it looks like rain. Ever.

Never thought of the water getting in. Looks like I can fill the cut with something (flexible caulking-black.)As for inspection, mine was probably the first electric motorcycle my shop had ever seen. Passed with flying colors.

1824 kms so far. No issues. Added wireless bicycle speedo to have mph.
