Title: 2nd ever MotoE Race this weekend
Post by: JaimeC on August 07, 2019, 05:06:54 PM
They've added a THIRD practice session Saturday morning prior to the ePole.  Race is scheduled for five laps on Sunday.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure how how I can watch it. This website is godawful: https://www.beinsports.com/us/tv-guide

I went ahead and coughed up the dough for the MotoGP season pass. Pricey but the only way I could find to watch decent quality video of the MotoE races on my schedule.

Apparently there are still some bugs in the system.

Well that is not good for their reliability and safety reputation.  :(

This website is godawful: beinsports.com

Yea I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how I would actually watch the race if I purchased a subscription. Seems the service only works on iOS or android devices. Sure you could cast it to your smart tv... but I like to watch things on my PC.

I also buckled and grabbed a pass on MotoGP.com. Bummer you can not watch the practice sessions, not sure if they just don't film them or what?
I do like the ability to live switch between the different camera angles (broadcast, helicopter, on-board).

beIN carries the qualifying and the race, but not live; on tape delay.  I find the qualifying session fascinating.  You only get ONE shot at it.  It's like a drag race with turns.

They're now lapping faster than the Moto3 bikes.  Not bad considering they probably weigh twice as much as those little 250s.  On the other hand, Austria is a "Stop and Go" type of track and when you can launch out of the turns at maximum torque instantly you'd almost expect those bikes to work well.  It's on the fast, flowing tracks where they need to make improvements.

That's not a battery fire.

It may not be a battery fire but that is what the public is going to think, thanks to all of the battery fire news stories that hit the media regularly.  The latest EV battery fire story around here is about four rental push-scooters that caught fire. Those fires were blamed on their lithium batteries catching fire. I can't ever recall a news story about a charger, or some other EV device, catching fire.

If no one is there to say "it's not a battery fire" people are going to blindly accept it's a battery fire.
