I’m on a 2015 Zero SR, on the side of the road with a broken belt. Anybody have knowledge of whether regular motorcycle repair shops will work on it? Also a recommendation for a Dallas shop would be useful. Otherwise the closest shop is 29 miles away.

No idea but there are not really expensive - maybe you should buy a spare one on af1racing.com ?

It's an extremely fast and easy replacement, so any shop should be willing to do the job if you give them a belt. The only question would be whether they tension it correctly, so you should give them the instructions on that from the manual.

As far as I know, there is no way to repair the belt. I think your best bet is to have your bike towed to a shop. If you order a new belt from AF1 it will take several days to receive it. I don't think they keep these in stock such that it could be sent overnight.
BTW, if you are an automatically renewing AMA member then the towing is free. If you're not a member you should consider becoming one. The annual cost is only $49 and if your sign up for automatic renewal, the roadside assistance is included and covers all of your vehicles (not just your motorcycle) as well as those of your immediate family. I've used the roadside assistance on several occasions and it has more than paid for the membership fee.

The problem will be getting the belt, if you're in a hurry. But I would think you could find a shop willing to do the work. But 29 miles to a Zero dealer is not bad.
For tow services, I carry both a Spot Messenger (https://www.findmespot.com/en/index.php?cid=114) (They will get you a tow truck to areas that have NO cell service) with the tow service as well as AAA Premier (https://www.aaa.com/aaa/045/pioneer/membership/premier/benefits.htm)(will tow me 200 miles for no extra charge).

Dallas is next day shipping even if you pick Ground.
There are two Zero dealers in the DFW metro, Eurosports in Ft Worth, and Maxim Motorsport in Dallas. Both could do the work no problem.

I got a buddy to pick me up. We took it to Eurosport, where I’ve had it worked on before. They quoted me 3-4 hours to install it - they had the belt in stock. My question is, and echoed on Reddit, how long should it take to do this work? It seems like 3 hours is too long?

I agree, sounds too long to me. If they know what they are doing, I would expect it to take less than an hour. But perhaps they never have done the job before, so be sure to check the belt alignment and such when you pick the bike up. A credit card space (or just slightly more <1 mm max> ) on the left side of the sprocket means it's aligned up correctly. If the belt is in the middle of the rear sprocket, do NOT accept it. It will soon break again (most likely).
BTW, how many miles on the belt that broke? Do you know why it broke (rock or whatever caught in the belt, etc)?

Not just tension. The alignment (left-right--explained above) is probably more important.

Thanks AF1. That's a good thing to know.
Regarding shop installation time for the new belt, I think 1-hour is a little skimpy. 2-hours should be about right for someone who has done it before. 3-4 hours for a shop that works on Zeros seems a little high to me.

I don’t know how many miles it had. I got the bike with ~11k and put on ~4k. I think the belt looks OK besides the break - I think I just hit on the perfect storm of accel+bumps and it just snapped. How many miles should I get from a belt normally?
Thanks for all the input - I’m going to check with the Allen Zero shop, and maybe join AAA to get the towing if necessary. After I make sure the Allen shop can and will do it for a max of 2 hours, I’m going to call Eurosport and ask why I was quoted 3-4 hours for a 1-2 hour job. If he rolls it back and says it was a mistake, ok. If not, I’ll get it to the Allen shop and stop going to Eurosport.

Zero recommends replacement every 24,000 miles.

The Allen dealer said that he had done belts in like 20 minutes (sounds low except that New Zerolander said they did it in 30 minutes on the side of the road) but went and verified that it had a standard rate of 1 hour labor for it.
Good news - Eurosport agreed with one hour. Martha said that either Raleigh hadn’t checked with the tech or they hadn’t actually done a belt on a Zero before. I don’t know if I buy that he had bad info OR that they hadn’t done one before, but if they’ll do it for the 1-hour labor I’m happy. When I get it on Saturday and get the bill it better only reflect 1 hour.
