Not only did CA increase the yearly registration fee for all electric vehicles by $100 (which really should be much less for motorcycles, considering how few miles they are driven during a year) to recoup lost gas taxes, but we may also experience a 50-100% increase in our electric power rates in the future due to our Northern California utility, P.G.&E. (Pacific, Graft and Explosion) being responsible for starting a number of huge and damaging wildfires during the past couple of years. According to recent news stories, the utility's ratepayers are likely to be stuck with paying much of the tab for the value of property (said to be around $30 billion, and climbing) and lives lost due to those fires. That is not going to help increase the sales of EVs and will increase the costs of owning an electric vehicle, compared with owing an ICE vehicle. If this happens it is not going to help California meet its legislative goal of millions of electric vehicles on our highways within just a few years. :(

Vote the bums out of office that's all they understand.
As for the power company someone should sue to force liquidation and have a new group take over.
I'm part of an electric coroprative here in GA. We have very low rates and any tiny profit it makes means we all get little $2-3 checks once a year.

PG&E beat us to the punch. Last month they filed for bankruptcy in order to avoid much of their mounting debt and liabilities. But since those liabilities are still out there, the question becomes who gets left holding the bag. Right now it looks like either the ratepayers or the general taxpayers. You gotta love publicly-owned commercial utility companies. The really know how to make a buck and keep it when the shit hits the fan. ::)
And one other thing, a Federal judge has ruled that they are a criminal corporation for killing people in an explosion that destroyed a neighborhood near me about 8 years ago. And now we have a federal bankruptcy court and a federal criminal court fighting over the remains of the company. :o

With the company in bankruptcy and not even handing out bonuses to their management :o, I wouldn't be surprised if EV rebates and lower EV power rates have been put on hold until their creditors, lawyers, investors, etc. get paid first.
