So I put a deposit down at my local Zero dealer.. who else is in?
Went for Premium in blue/grey.

I would have if I could of gotten a 7.2 kWh power tank.
I am only getting 19 miles per 3.6 kWh on my new 19 SR with power tank.
A lot can happen between now and fall when the new power tank comes out.

Come on now... I am also depressed on your behalf, but you can't conflate the performance of a broken bike with functioning ones.
My FX 6.5 gets 60 if I go up and ride the local 3000ft ridge road, so you will soon enough get 66 under the same conditions.

All of my complaining is in the long history of my comments on the missing cruise control.
I have internal complaints on the expected ship date of the SR/F and how many sunny spring days I will miss. :'(

My sentiments also. Instead of us nit picking all the little things it doesn't have we should be relishing in the fact that the new SR/F is a big step forward in the evolution of affordable (relatively speaking), mass produced electric motorcycles and that we now have another buying choice.

What kind of deposit are you guys leaving? I really want this bike but having to leave a non-refundable deposit of $2500 makes me a tad bit nervous and makes me think about waiting to ride a demo, I just worry I won’t get one until July if I wait that long!
Also my local dealer decided to stop selling Zeros this week so I have to go 5.5 hours away:( not very appealing to do that just to demo one, drive back, then do it all again to pick it up.

Just found out I’ve got one pre-ordered from Hollywood Electrics!! Still going to test ride it first, and see what trade in I’ll get on my ‘16 DSR, but if that all looks good, I might be on one sooner than thought!!! Shame I just bought a brand new KTM 1290R... have to lobby the girl quite heavily methinks!

I only left a two hundred. Dealer and I agreed until more precise date for delivery is known we can hold off on a bigger deposit. I was actually prepared to leave a larger deposit but was relieved that the dealer thought we should hold off until a solid date can be confirmed.

Yes, the premium has 6.6KW of charging capability, while the standard has 3.3KH. You may add the charge-tank later, which it will add an extra 6.6KWh for a total of 9.9KW,
but it will cost you more.

That's a good point I left out of my response and had completely forgot that premium comes with the 6Kw. My riding habits and situation didn't necessitate the extra charging boost so I left that off. I am fine with 4hrs 0-100% with a 14-130 plug I'm going to install.
I will add that given all this interest in the 6Kw and premium, I may upgrade to for the future resale.

This has been answered many times already. There is a single J1772 inlet.

There will be a delay for the power tank and as people have talked about most level II stations only put out 6-7kws per plug so a second inlet is worth a second look if it's not planed so far.

So I placed my order on my first electric motorcycle. Blue SR/F Premium. Can't wait for spring. Now I am waiting to see what accessories they have for it. Definitely going to get windshield and top case/rack if/when available.

Congrats. No accessories announced yet (other than the power tank). The Premium comes with a little screen. I put a larger screen on my SR, and TBH, it made little difference to comfort or range. I'll hold off on this one for as long as I can, and it really spoilt the look IMHO.

Thank you very much. I have to say, I was really hoping on the Livewire. I would have really liked to have went with Harley. Most of my MC club rides their big crusiers and I would have really liked being the first on the electric. But I was real disappointed when they announced it. Not only in price but in specs too I could not see the value in it. That is when I decided on Zero and test rode them. I was sold after my test ride and almost bought a 2019 SR. I decided I will see what Zero had to offer on the SR/F but if not for me, get the SR. Well in complete opposite of the Livewire announcement, I was thrilled in the SR/F. It had a lot of the wishlist items that I hoped on without being too much more in price. Even had my favorite color blue. When I heard Zero is upping their First Responders promo to $1000 on the premium, I was sold. Now can't wait until it comes in. I can only hope it come closer to my expectations and all the good things you guys say about zero.

Decided I wanted a bike, then checked out what was going on with electrics and heard Zero was launching a new model soon. So I held out for a few months. Loved everything about the SR/F. Especially the inclusion of the Bosch MSC. Seems like a good bike that I can dial down while I learn and then open as I get more comfortable.

I'm waiting with bated breath for the launch of the new Lighting Strike. It's supposed to debut sometime this month. I have no intention of replacing my 2017 DSR (I love that bike). I'm just curious to see how it will stack up to the SR/F.

What I would probably be very interested in seeing is if they announce a nationwide dealer network. I'm not really that hopeful being they state Free Shipping. A $15K +/- mail order bike is not for me. What would you do for service, ship it back to factory? Normal service stations can't service these bikes. They need to get dealers to carry and service them. Then they have a chance.

I agree, almost no matter what they announce, I won't be interested because they just haven't established a network. Besides that, I don't think they will be able to be competitive with zero on a specs per price ratio when Zero has obviously produced more bikes.

Yeah I read somewhere that Zero can build 20 bikes a day. So I am cool is they build 15 SR/Fs and then 5 "other". My vote is they work in alphabetical order, East coast, North, South, West Coast.
Well I am guessing they are doing the dealer bikes first. They need to get them in the showrooms to sell more. After they do those they will start on the preorders.
On another topic, I keep seeing it will be released in limited quantities. So what do you think? Will they build a bunch and then stop selling until it gets officially closer to the usual 2020 model release time frame. The only thing I can see is they are doing a limited release in case they discover a big issue, then they only have a small number out there and they can correct it in the next run.

Sadly I believe early April was a little optimistic. My best guess from all I read and talking with a couple dealers in the area: Dealers get their demos in early to mid April. Zero needs to get these out because this is what sells more bikes. Then they will start working on the preorders. Someone on here heard they are building premiums first but I have not heard anything on that. Preorders should start arriving in late April and early May. I guess when you get it depends on how many preorders they have. I can’t imagine there is a huge amount. It is only the bravest (or stupidest) of us that orders a bike unseen or not test driven. Hopefully is is only then Zero will get to making the bikes stocked for regular sales. If Zero swaps this and the preorders manufacturing schedule it would not be right. But I have learned in the past from preordering electronics, sometimes you can buy it in the store before your preorder arrives. My dealer says that being that Zeros are hand assembled, they can’t give a better ETA until the bike is getting ready to ship. So I guess the next month or so will be a long wait for some of us. I am glad I have my ICE bike to ride because it is officially Spring today..

BMWNA has a tendency to ship new model demonstrators to their dealerships prior to the bikes that were pre-ordered by their customers. I ordered my 2009 F650GS in January 2008, it left the factory in June 2008, but didn't reach my dealer until September 2008. This was because BMW didn't ship out any of that new model until enough had been produced by the factory and received at their warehouse in NJ so that they had enough bikes for at least two for each of their (approximately) 300 dealers in the U.S. Then they shipped out all of the F650GS and F800GS models at one time so that all of their dealers would have them to test ride and sell at the same time. The bike that I special ordered (without ABS), arrived at my shop two weeks after the demonstrators. I might add that the F650GS and F800GS had been bouncing around in Europe for about a year by that time.

My dealer offered to hold one of their first bikes they get for demos for me. I will of course come and test ride it but I put a deposit down so unless I ride it and something is really off I will hopefully have one of the first ones!

Zero will provide the dealer's demo bikes first, then customer bikes. They will NOT replace demo bikes until all other orders have been filled. This is a new Zero policy. Therefore it's unlikely your dealer will sell you their demo.

It's gotten better since Zero replaced my damaged battery under warranty.
Recently, I babied it and got 60 miles from 100% to 0% averaging 29 mph. If I go out and hooligan around, I can still only get maybe 40 miles a charge. I haven't tried getting on the highway and holding it a 70 mph. If it didn't overheat immediately, I think it might go 20 miles at those speeds.

It does seem unlikely a dealer would immediately sell their demo bike, I have to say. Also, I think I would like to wait until the demo models have been built and Zero have moved onto the "regular" bikes, as they are bound to find issues with the first run..

Jarrett, that range is still a bit short. If I really baby my 6.5 and limit speeds to 40 in ECO mode, but include a scenic run up to 3000 ft, in 55 degree weather with heated grips and heated jacket on full, I can get home at 60 miles with 5-10% left.

My dealer called and Friday and said they were putting in the actual order for the bike - so I had to decide on the colour. Tricky decision! The red ones I’ve seen in photos look great: much fancier than the red on my SR for example (even after I swapped out the plastics after the great parking-lot-paint-solvent incident).
In the end though, I went for the blue. Something a little different.
The dates stayed the same: demo bike coming next month (April), and my bike coming in May. Just in time for Summer to return to Seattle..

First, we still do not know all the details and pricing on the Strike so it is hard to make a accurate judgement at this point. Right now it is is comparing apples to oranges because we do not know all the specifications and option pricing.
My thoughts thus far
1. Zero definitely has much more experience in making a production bike. According to one article, Lighting may have delivered only 40 bikes to the public. I know they set up new factories but they have to still prove they can mass produce bikes.
2. They have no dealer network as of now. I would not purchase a mail order motorcycle, If something goes wrong, you are SOL trying to get it fixed. If they can establish a dealer network as big or bigger then zero, it would be essential.
3. No mention of traction control on Lightning as of yet. This was a big reason I ordered the SR/F.
4. From the article on the Strike, it looks like it may be a fully faired sport bike like the original lightning bike. I am not interested in that look. Yes it would be nice for Zero to have an option for maybe a front fairing but I am not looking for a sport bike.
So I think right now, Zero is still the best bet until Lightning proves itself. Maybe a few years from now, it will be different or maybe Lightning will be out of business like Alta.

All of the invites I have seen from dealers with an SR/F include verbiage something like:
Come see the SR/F
Come test ride our SR and DSR models.

SR/F demos start shipping middle of the month, probably take until the end of the month for all the dealers to get their demos.

I know a bunch of dealers got to ride the SR/F at the big reveal. I am wondering if they were not allowed to video the ride. The only test ride videos I can find are:

There was a facebook post from someone earlier who took one but quickly deleted. They seemed to enjoy their ride, the main things they didnt like were the heated grips felt weak/not warm enough, and the foot position on the bike for them. They did do a lot power stops to test the ABS and were happy with it.

Me too. I sold my ICE (more for the storage room than funding). Now everyone is riding their bikes to work and I am stuck in my cage.
But seriously - we want estimates of the dealer demo delivery dates. We want an estimated schedule for pre-order fulfillment.

I tend to agree. It looks more like a powder blue, which is lighter than I would prefer. I think black should be offered as a standard color for every motorcycle. I'm not too keen on either of the color choices for the new SRF, which would probably keep me from buying one if I was in the market.

I ordered an SR/F last month after an unofficial test ride and posting that video on Youtube (which caused my dealer some trouble. Sorry.)
I've enjoyed electric cars for a few years. I really enjoy the performance and the challenge of getting the best out of them. I've also ridden motorcycles on and off since the '70s. The SR/F was the first ebike I've ridden that pushed all the right buttons. I walked back into the dealer after the test ride with my credit card already out.
While dropping off one of my other bikes for service I asked if they had any word on deliveries. I was told demo bikes are shipping first and pre-orders would begin to ship early in may. My order was number 30-something and I placed it 3/9. Once the demo bikes hit and the press embargo is lifted they are likely to be swamped with orders. The bike is pretty amazing to ride and looks great. Zero is a small company so unless you are OK with waiting quite a while you might want to consider pre-ordering rather than waiting for a test ride if you know you are going to buy one anyway.

I ordered the SR F in Germany end of march,
estimated delivery was said to be end of may / early june.
But they also said the demo would arrive in early april and they still dont have a date yet.
Not sure if european models have a different schedule or that i am just late to the party.
Any europeans with similar info?

Why does there need to be a "press embargo"? What is Zero concerned about? Receiving too many orders too soon? ???

Your order number was 30 something? Does that mean for that dealer or worldwide? That would be impressive if that dealer has 30 something orders, but sad if it was worldwide. 😊

Your order number was 30 something? Does that mean for that dealer or worldwide? That would be impressive if that dealer has 30 something orders, but sad if it was worldwide. 😊
Lets not forget this was about a week after the bike was revealed. Almost no one saw the bike, no test rides (sanctioned), no reviews. Not many will preorder a $20K bike that way. I ordered mine around that date and it was right when my dealer was ready to take preorders. I am guessing there has been some preorders since but the most will order once the test rides start.

Press embargo: Embargos are common in the vehicle industry. It allows manufacturers to roll out press, advertising, and product availability together. Happens all the time and I accidentally stepped into it.
Order #: I was told I was #36 on Zero's pre-order list. I assume that is a global list, but European bikes have a different charger port so bikes for each market may be built in batches. My dealer said I wasn't their first order and they have had several more since.
Pre-orders: People are pre-ordering Lightnings and LiveWires. Many thousands of people pre-ordered Tesla Model 3s. Even today most people buying a Model 3 haven't taken a test drive and it is considerably more costly than the SR/F. I've ridden the bike and expect the media to have really good reviews, albeit full of the range anxiety common in the motor press who haven't lived with electric vehicles. That and the availability of test rides will likely lead to a considerable backlog of orders next month. That's a guess, but Zero is a small company.

Thoughts on the test ride (compared to the SR I've had for a few years):
* As they were wheeling the bike out of the store room, it was obviously how radically different this bike is from existing Zeros. It looks like it comes from a different manufacturer. Fat back tyre with that rear hugger, wide "tank", color LCD screen, dual front disks, new mechanisms for "tank" lid opening and new charge port. This is a brand new bike in every way that matters.
* Switch gear is different. The little control to interact with the new screen is right above the control for the signals, and takes a little getting used to. Feels higher quality too. Hurray for handlebar warmers!
* Sitting on the bike - what a difference! The position is much more "into" the bike, rather than sitting on top of it. With the lower weight and this new position, it feels wonderful. Comfortable, stable and low and higher speeds, and there seemed to be a lot less wind hitting me - and I've the larger official screen on my SR.
* There did seem to be a little more noise (larger belt? larger tyre?) but NO squealing from the brakes which was a nice change!
* I tried not to speed, but it certainly FELT faster than the SR.
* The LCD display is a huge improvement, although there are large bezels which are a little odd when the background turns white. I wish they would update the software to link to my phone - I would LOVE it if they could put directions from my iPhone on the display for example. Even a line of text with the next turn would stop me getting lost in Seattle all the bloody time.
Overall - I cannot wait to get my bike. I've no interest in the Lightning now I've ridden the SR/F, nor any interest in petrol-powered bikes. It's a totally different riding experience from the SR, fantastic looks, great equipment, nicely refined. Looks and feels worth the money.

It's the same mirror as previous bike, unless it's just positioned differently.
Also you mentioned "lower weight". Do you mean lower center of gravity? Because the SR/F is quite a bit heavier than my 2017 DSR without powertank.

So here we are the beginning of May and no preorders delivered. Well I guess I was told end of April/beginning of May initially so we are still in the window but I am not hopeful. What has me concerned is I see a lot of dealers do not have their demos yet. That means Zero is still working fulfilling those orders which probably means none of the preorders have been built yet. I guess what Zero meant with the email saying SR/Fs are rolling off the line, meant the demos and not any of ours. My dealer is still not getting a concrete date from Zero on my bike. It seems it has went from late April/early May to “hopefully†sometime in May. I am guessing Zero is falling behind.
This is somewhat understandable being the bike is brand new and they have to work out the assembly issues. Also I am hearing that the amount of preorders had surprised them. They didn’t expect that many people to order bikes sight unseen. They knew once demos are out and test rides begin, the orders will flow in, just not so early. The only objection I have to this is then you have the CEO of Zero telling Forbes they can produce up to 10,000 SR/fs a year if they needed to. At that rate there should be no backup unless he is talking out of his ass.
So does anyone out there have anytihing better than sometime in May for a delivery date form there dealer? If so, have they spoken with them lately and confirmed this? I preordered about March 12th and that is all I am getting.

What BMW does with a completely new model is to stockpile the bikes (made for a specific market) in a big warehouse until they have enough to supply every one of their dealers in that market with at least one or two demonstrators. Then they ship those out first, followed by the bikes that have been pre-ordered with deposits by their customers. But the dealers always get them first, followed by the pre-orders.
The other thing that BMW does is to load the first group of bikes with every expensive factory-installed accessory they can pack on the new model, which typically raises their price by about $4K over the advertised "base" MSRP. So not only do their "early adopters" become their first-year beta test riders, but they also pay through the nose for the privilege.
Fortunately for SR/F buyers, Zero doesn't seem to offer much in the way of factory options that will jack the price up beyond what you already expect. However, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Zero is holding off shipping customer bikes until all of their dealers can have at least one to display in their showroom.

Quite likely true.
Coming recently from a manufacturing background I would always order modest batches of parts at the start of new model production. That makes for fewer products scrapped or reworked if I find an error and fewer expensive components sitting in the warehouse if the product sells poorly. For the domestically manufactured sheet metal weldments and wire harnesses we designed typical lead times for me were 6-10 weeks. Custom made imported parts often took 3 months or more to arrive.
I have no doubt Zero can build as many as they say. It will definitely take some time to ramp up to that level of production. they will need to hire, equip, and train new staff in one of the toughest markets in the country for employers. That takes time and money. Zero's recent funding drive was no doubt done to support this expansion.
If orders have significantly exceeded expectations delays past May and well into the summer might be expected for the most recent pre-orders. Their first priority right now will be working out the kinks in the assembly process and ensuring the first customer and press bikes that go out are flawless. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

My concern would be that they have enough parts to assemble the number of bikes for which they have orders, both pre- and projected. Keep in mind that almost all of the parts on Zero motorcycles are sourced from other counties. Ordering additional parts needed to assemble hundreds of additional SR/F models from every supplier would likely take a considerable amount of time. ???

So here are my thoughts about the "hopefully" adjective everyone is getting to a vague time frame for delivery. Zero is:
1. not communicating real information with it's dealers and it is the dealer that is "hopeful" the bikes come soon so they don't lose the preorder sales.
2. not really knowing what they are doing in the assembly of the SR/F and has no way to estimate how many bikes they can produce in a given timeframe. Some of this is a given being the SR/F is so new and different than their other bikes but in between the years experience they have making EVs and putting together all the demos, they should have a good idea by now.
3. just plain out lying and knows there is no way they can make the near original time frame but won't say it because they don't want to lose sales. They could have run into an issue with the bike, with the supply chain or just got overwhelmed by the amount of preorders.
So I've have been part of numerous Kickstarter campaigns and I relate my experience with them with this experience being this bike is "new" to Zero. Here is what I learned:
1. Most new items are delayed on initial release. Just part of being an early adopter.
2. It is essential to communicate with the customer. Customers would put up with a lot if they feel you are doing your best to release the best product they can in as short of a timeframe as possible. If they don't hear from you, they assume the worst.
3. If they rush it, there will be problems. I would rather wait a while for a better product than rush to get a buggy item. Then again don't have me waiting and then deliver a piece of S**t.
4. Don't lie to the customers. Once you do that your credibility is gone. If you hit problems and delays, say you did. Don't let your marketing people send out a email saying SR/Fs are shipping when you know the customers will be waiting a long time.
5. A modest delay is understandable, a never ending delay is unacceptable.
So it would be nice if Zero gave the dealers the best information they have at the time and then the dealers reach out to the customers (too many times it is the customers that need to reach out to the dealers) and let them know what is going on. I mean they have our money and our commitment to support one of their products site unseen. They should at least act like they care about the customer.

Wow Richard, you have some patience there. I would have been going crazy with my new bike sitting in a warehouse from July through September, That is the core of the riding season in the Northeast here. I guess that is the drawback to special orders or preorders. You make me feel guilty about complaining about the 2 months or so I will be waiting on the SR/F.

The dealer in Phoenix said the demo will be delivered tomorrow (Thursday 5/2), and to plan on a test ride this weekend. I'm going to wait until next Tuesday morning so hopefully they don't notice how long I'm gone =)
I think Zero is smart to get a few customer butts on pre-delivery bikes to get feedback before final rollout - they are 2020s after all. The sales guy showed me the 'out-the-door' bill on a pre-order with all the bells and whistles; $24,700 (rounded) including tax and tag.

It helped that I had 5 other motorcycles to ride at the time. ;) But I still was not happy about BMW having my bike in their New Jersey warehouse and was refusing to ship it to my dealer because they didn't have enough "units" to ship to all of their NA dealers at the same time. >:(

Too bad Zero doesn’t have an Elon Musk equivalent who can take $1,000 deposit for a car that doesn’t exist and make you happy to wait 3 years for it. Then when it arrives, you are even happier to pay double for a sportier version since they still don’t make the base model you ordered. Imagine waiting years for your SR/F and then paying $30,000+. It’s all fascinating stuff.

I have seen them vary widely from $495 to $1400 for delivery and setup. This is usually the "negotiable" part of the price. The higher end will be a lot more negotiable than the lower.

My dealer comfirmation shows it costs them 434,35 € for shipping it to the dealer (germany). I could only get him to agree on a 1k discount on the bike + they would pay for shipping and do the 1st inspection. Apparently their margins are much lower on Zero bikes than on most other brands.

My guess is one of the issues is that many of the dealers are ordering demo SR/Fs being the bike is so different than the rest of the line up and is expected to sell well. Most of the dealers I checked previously did not have every new model bike so it wasn’t a big deal until now. I am guessing they all or most will have this one. Loooking at the dealer map and just taking a visual guesstimate I would say they have about 100 dealers in the US and about that much oversees. That could be 200 demo bikes they need to get out there. My guess is that is as many bikes that was preordered before the test rides so it may take them a while to get the bikes to customers. My dealer originally thought the bike he was getting in this week was one of his preorders but Zero has “clarified†it for him that it is a demo and not for sale at this time.
So I am hoping they are coming to the end of supplying the demo bikes and will begin on the preorders. I guess it is just a matter of how fast they can make them and how they will ship them. I am hoping they will manuafacture/ship them in the order of the preordering being i preordered pretty early. I am guessing they may wait and ship in batches to certain geographical areas being this would be most economical. I am really hoping by mid June at the latest getting the bike. The riding season is not the longest here in the Northeast and I hate to get a new bike too late in it. If we start looking for a delivery much later than that, I will probably rethink my purchase.

I get that the dealer demo rollout is something like a soft opening, where you use a limited pool to look for issues before opening to the general public.
But why is sharing info with the dealers and pre-orderers so scarce?
I would much rather hear how the rollout is going.
For me, hearing how the rollout is going, what issues are being investigated and what changes to the process are being made along the way is much better than a complete vacuum and no bike.

Vinceeherman I think that sounds about right. These demos are like beta testing over a network of dealers and different conditions.
I also agree with some other posts that this "2020" bike may be rushed out a bit due to HD and Lightning. I still think it will be the best option of the three but I would expect some bugs early on. I would also guess 90% of factory production is SRFs at this point so they should be rolling out pretty soon.
Of course they may have put on those heated grips as standard for a reason.

To add my 2 cents..
I heard from one of the dealers here that Zero changed the requirements for dealers starting this year.
They are now required to stock a demo bike of all models. That means that if there are 200 dealers worldwide, they now have to supply those 200 dealers before shipping to customers. In addition they will have to divert production capability to supply those dealers with the other models.. Creating even more delay for customers..
Looking at how other manufacturers cater to the internet generation, i agree however that a modicum of information is MUCH more desirable than complete silence. I would rather get updates informing me of delays and expected forecasts than nothing at all..

MrBlc, surly not. That was the first dealer model but at that time there were only 4 Zero models then they went with the 2 demo models per dealer and that has worked pretty well.
I mean they have the FX FXS the 7.2 S-DS the 14.4 S-DS the SR the DSR and now the SRF. That would be about about $100k worth of bikes each dealer would have to buy. Even dropping the smaller battery base models and figuring a big wholesale discount at $60k they would lose dealers left and right.
I hope he heard wrong.

I'm uncertain as to how they have solved it here in .no as of right now.. I do know that NO dealer here would be willing to invest that much, but the importer might..
Importer DID display all 4 models at a fair back in march.. That includes the SR/F with the .nl plates.
None of the dealers from that network had any models at the same fair.. so.. could be interesting..
I plan on having a chat with the dealer closest to me once SR/F is available to demo. They are more than 1 hour away, so not really dropping by..

Demo bikes would be included in the floor-plan, and not require full payment on delivery; current interest rates being what they are, this would be a minimal monthly expense for the Dealer. I for one would be a potential buyer for a demo at a reduced price, and would feel confident that I'm not dropping $20K on an unridden potential lemon. Plenty of opportunities to oversee and pre-test the 'new' bike before loosening the purse strings too.
Sometimes immediate gratification is not worth risking a long term headache, especially with a new release.

Sorry to say, do not read into the email from Zero. On April 8th we go the email that the SR/F is “coming off the lineâ€. We all thought it was close then. We all know they are shipping, shipping demos to dealers. When the first bikes make it into customers hands no one know being Zero is keeping it a secret. So when I say there should be more communication from Zero, I don’t mean worthless emails from the marketing division.

My local dealership has a demo bike as of last weekend and is getting a second bike today I believe. I have an appointment to test-ride the demo this Saturday.
I've had two Zero bikes, a '12 ZF9 and a '15 SR - loved both and am amazed at the rapid rate of improvement from one generation to the next.
I would love to get a new bike this year (and I feel loyal to Zero- they've done right by me for seven years now), but definitely want to test-ride both the Zero SR/F and the Lightning Strike before deciding.

Just got an email from Hollywood Electrics. Seems if you order today, they are talking delivery sometime in July. I guess Zero got more preorders than expected and are really behind. I hope the early preorders deliver this month sometime.

we just got notice our demo is finally shipping this week. We didn't have any pre-sold orders so we were further down the line than some others. Our showroom bike for stock is shipping sometime in June (not sold yet). If we sold and ordered one today, they are saying a late July early August delivery. LOTS of pre-orders is what we've heard. All good news for Zero!!!!

I dont even want to contact my dealer again at this point, to hear another "hopefully+extra 2 weeks to a month" they keep adding on. If hopefully held any meaning I would have had my bike mid last month. They know nothing, nor do I want a mass market email once a month saying they working on building the bikes from zero. Actual communication with info would have been awesome. The only reassuring thing, is thanks to youtube you can see dealers are gradually getting the demo bikes.

The San Diego dealer was just unpacking their demo SR/F as I coincidentally stopped in to see if they had one yet. I sat on it while it was still strapped to the board. The riding position won’t work for me as it’s even more “aggressive†than my SR which was uncomfortable enough for me. However, it is a very substantial-looking motorcycle for those wanting a “street fighterâ€.

Regarding bar risers, I called Zero and asked this question. They man who answered the phone spoke with the guy who installs the various cables and said an inch or an inch and half may be possible without a lot of drama, but no more.

The Zero manager, cool guy, i met him in person when i tested the SR early this year, claims that 2nd half of may the dealer bikes arrive in EU and shortly after (end of May, early June) the first customer bikes will arrive.
Lets hope he is correct and we can ride the bike in a few weeks :)

This is not giving me a good first experience with zero
So if I didn't know I would think Zero reads these forums, I would wonder. I write complaining about no communication from Zero and 2 hours later I get an email from them congratulating me on my purchase, saying my bike will go into production "in the next few weeks", promising me to keep me informed on the progress and offering a tee shirt. Now I know we all got this email who preordered but I have to take back my complaint and give credit where it is due. Now of course i would have rather it been a email from my dealer saying my bike shipped but I have to give credit to Zero for finally communicating with the customer. I really hope this continues.

I'm in the same boat. I could understand and deal with delays if there was good communication from zero to the customers or at least to the dealers. I think my dealer is just saying hopefully "insert week" because he had not heard anything from Zero. To add insult to injury is the emails saying they are "coming off the line" or "shipping". This is not giving me a good first experience with zero

Great to see you guys on board here. Too many companies never know what there customer base is thinking. Sometimes all they would have to do is read their customer forums. It means a lot to get communication from you guys and helps to establish a loyal customer base. I can't wait for my first Zero.

I ordered about the same date. I did get the email. I'm in the US, not sure if that counts. I'm not sure if they are sending emails out in waves or all at once. If you don't receive anything soon, I would inquire.

So I got a call from Zero today after my phone inquiry. I had asked them to confirm they had an order for me.
They told me the dealership I had ordered from had 2 bikes coming, but they said mine was not listed as a pre-sold so they would likely be selling me their floor bike, which doesn't ship out until after the pre-sold bikes. The dealership is closed today so he couldn't call and confirm.
Needless to say if this is the case I will be quite mad. I paid a $2500 deposit to order this bike, why would it not go in as pre-sold? I am hoping it is a mistake.

Hey sorry to hear that. When I preordered my dealer kept talking about putting in an order for 4 bikes (not sure if all were SR/Fs). I kept telling him just make sure my is preordered because I am not going to wait until the floor models arrive. He assured me I was good but always wonders if he did it right. I was glad to get the email just to see it was right. I really hope you can get it straightened out.

If Zero filled all of one dealer's orders immediately, customers at other dealers would cry foul. Zero must spread the available bikes as equitably as possible to crowds of anxious buyers so that every dealer is making forward progress.
At this point, Zero is incentivized to the max, as they make money as fast as they can make bikes. But they have to maintain quality standards amid the clamor. Perhaps their marketing effort (consisting entirely of a single dark picture overlaid with "2.25.19") was too aggressive. :)

The best I can piece together from the information I read and what my dealer told me. There is 3 phases of bike shipments. The demo bikes come first. These can’t be sold for a certain amount of time. This is so customers can test ride and zero can sell more bikes. Then come the customer preorders. I’m still not sure if they are filled based on preorder date, geographic location, level of dealership or total randomness. lastly i the dealer flirt bikes. These are their “in stock†inventory and can be sold immediately. I am guessing zero was accepting orders for all three classifications. If the dealer order your bike in the wrong category, you may be waiting longer. There does seem some confusion at the dealership level. Mine thought he was getting all his SR/F ordered at the same time. His rep just clarified it.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation out there. Hard to tell what is confusion and what is bulls**t. My dealer originally thought he would be able to sell any bike that was delivered. He originally told me he was going to get all four bikes at the same time. He said if he doesn't he will try to get mine first and then give it to me. He asked the rep to send mine instead of the one they had slated for delivery. He was told that the first bike was a demo and could not be sold even if it was the model I ordered. So in your case, it may be the dealer was confused and ordered wrong. Hopefully they can rectified it with Zero. I am not sure of this was the first preorder zero had but it is probably the largest and things are getting a little mixed up.

I put a deposit down on 4/25 after doing a quick test ride which obviously sold me on the spot. Last year I was toying with the idea of a DSR but luckily I waited!
Zero sent me the same email as well last week congratulating me on the purchase and therefore being part of an elite group :o
I stopped by my dealer yesterday - asking about dates I did not get an answer I feel adds anything of value to the discussion... Let's just wait and see, I love suspense!

My pre-order went in March 6th.
I just stopped by my dealer the other day. They said they've had their demo unit for a little over a week. They had absolutely no news on when I could expect mine. Originally they said mid may. No idea where I fall in line.
It was really neat to get to see in person. I didn't ride it, though. Had a time constraint. Bike looks amazing.
My dealer also said that Zero explicitly told them not to sell their demo bike. That they wouldn't be able to get another.

They don't show any of the sr/F accessories on the,website yet, but there,is a picture floating around on here showing mount with a Shad top case. Zero is just slow updating the store. Maybe waiting till bike is actually on the road.

So on Facebook it appears someone has picked up "their" SR/F yesterday. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Either the post is bull, the dealer sold a demo bike which he shouldn't have, Zero made a shipment mistake or the customer orders are starting to be fulfilled. Of course I hope it is the last one but it is hard to believe with most dealers still having no idea when our bikes our shipping and some not even having their demos yet.

So I got a shipment notice today for a shipment coming from Zero. Got real excited then noticed it was only 2 pounds. I guess it is not my SR/F but instead a tee shirt. Well I may not be riding a Zero this spring but I will at least look good.

I wouldn’t worry. As I said, it may have come from Fedex being I have an account with them. I would be concerned if you didn’t get the original email from Zero congratulating you on your order.
Saying that, I do not know about you but every time I check the forum and I see this thread has new posts, I am really hoping to see someone who preordered say they heard word from their dealer on delivery.
So far all I see is:
1. Most dealers are still clueless as for delivery dates.
2. One person on here claims Zero told him his bike is shipping this week.
3. One person on Facebook claims he picked up his bike last week.
4. Someone on Facebook saying the dealers will have delivery dates this week.
5. Dates being thrown around in May, June and July.
5. A VERY long wait if you order now.
7. A lot of people clueless as to when they will get their bikes but may be better dressed but still clueless next week when our T shirts arrive.
I hope the wait turns out worth it.

That is something I really don’t understand. Zero seems to have a small but loyal customer base. People who will preorder their bikes site unseen show a lot about their faith in the company. Zero should have customer service reps go out of their way to make that customer base feel like they care. They are not a huge company which has millions of customers. They are small enough that if they just tried a little more, they will establish strong ambassadors for their company. I would think this is never more important than at the critical juncture where electric vehicles are gaining in popularity and Zero has the potential to go head to head with the big boys once they enter the market.

Just contacted one of the larger dealers in Austria who also carries Energicas. Well, he expects the SR/F to arrive not sooner than August :( I'll go try one of the Esse esse 9s instead.

Just ordered a red SR/F Premium after test riding a DSR and the SR/F today. Looking forward to using it for my daily commute instead of my Triumph Trophy (at least while the weather's warm...my Trophy will still be my cold weather commuting bike). Dealer ball-parked a couple of months but he really doesn't know for sure.

I'm coming up on my second year of ownership for my Trophy and this past winter really made me appreciate it even more. Although winter in NorCal is nowhere near as bad as some other areas of the country, the wind protection, heated seats and heated grips lets me ride down into the 30's with jeans, sweater, jacket, and all-season gloves while remaining comfortable.
While the SR/F has heated grips, the lack of real wind protection nixes winter time commuting on it for me (although I'm sure I'll still ride it in the winter from time to time).
Until I can adjust my riding style, I'm pushing the range on the bike since my commute is almost all freeway albeit with about half of the distance spent lane splitting. If I ride as Zero recommends I should have just enough range to do a round trip to and from work without needing to charge up at work. The fact that I can charge at work though is a big plus and gives me time to adjust my riding style (I admittedly ride pretty aggressively on my commute...I'm old and have little patience these days...a bad combo).

Yep! I have ridden my TTSE in the teens a few times. I also feel a little safer with the traction control. I had mine since new in 2013.

If it's all freeway, make sure you have a decent windscreen on any electric bike. I was surprised how noticeable my increase of freeway range was on Hwy 80 when the Zero Touring screen was added to my SR. Makes the largest difference at higher speeds and very noticeable difference on longer trips.

Thanks for the tip...I'll start looking for a larger screen of some kind for the SR/F. It's funny when they say the premium version comes with a fly screen...I would barely call it that. Hopefully they or one of the other screen manufacturers come out with a decent windscreen in the near future for it.

You’re right. I’ve gotten used to bike specific screens on my last few bikes I didn’t even think about the use of a bar mounted screen. Time to hit RevZilla, etc. :)

Finally had the opppurtunity to test ride an SR/F at motoport Rotterdam (Netherlands) yesterday. The dealer had just received their blue(ish) SR/F demo bike and also Zero Netherlands was present with a Red SR/F. Both standard versions.
First the looks, i got only 1 word for it. "Absolutley Gorgeous" (haha that's 2 words :)
Even die-hard gas-bikers were interested in the looks (but not into test riding it :) and they agreed with me, it looks the bombl powerfull, striking etc.
That BIG motor which Zero did not hide any more, the batterypack with all the cooling fins, the rear wheel where the studs for the rear sprocket are integrated into the spokes instead of a big sprocket which is attached in the center.
The guy from Zero which was there explained that they made it apear at speed that the rear sprocket would float in mid air. In fact he said the designers were absolutley thrilled when they heard that for this bike they were allowed to start from absolutely from scratch and build-up a brand new platfrom.
First thing that struck me was that the seat was noticably lower (they do have an option for a higher seat) and also that the handlebar was smaller (no measurements unfortunately). The pegs are slightly higher and the handlebars are a smidge further forward. In my opinion comparable with a triumph street triple 675 I had a few years ago.
The seat was noticeably softer and a bit wider in the normal seating position (the current zero seat is quite narrow at the front and hard as rock)
The test ride was about an hour and no aching whatsoever which does occur on my SR.
Driving away from the dealership in sport mode felt very much like my SR. smooth control and the extra weight is not noticable at all. The bike feels very nimble and yet rock solid planted.
The test ride was awesome, the boys from zero had programmed in a custom mode called "Beast Mode" 8) where everything was dialed up to the max. Max torque and maximum regen. With those setting you can really ride it without touching the front or rear brake. Very strong regen and off course very strong acceleration :) Definitely stronger than the SR.
After about an hours drive I returned to the dealership and was allowed to do a short round with my girlfriend on the backseat. We often ride together and she noticed that the seating position was almost the same as the SR, slightly higher knee postition but not uncomfortable and the seat itself is alot softer (= better) and also longer. All in all that aspect was approved by her 8)
Riding 2-up with the SR/F has less effect on riding compared to riding 2 up on the SR which was to be expected. The higher weight off the bike and also the higher loading capacity (read better springs) will probably contribute to this.
After the ride i sat down with the salesman and he made me a relatively good offer, obviously a SR of only a year old will have a huge depriciation. But hey, that's life :)
I ordered a Red Premium SR/F and for the delivery time they said it would arrive in early July. That would seem a bit quick for me seeing all the post about people having pre-ordered so I'm counting on late July/early August. I can't wait though :)
The Zero guy had some interesting details about the bike. Apparently the battery chemistry is different compared to the SR. The capacity is obviously the same at 14.4 kWh. I wonder if thats how they made it more overheating-proof

Sorry. :'( I corrected my post to say that most all bar-mounted windshields fit the standard 7/8" diameter handlebars (H-D models use 1" bars). When I posted 3/4" that was a mistake that I blame on my fingers and a brain-fart. ::)

I've sent an email to register my interest in a red standard edition SRF. No deposit paid yet as I'd like to confirm the lead time, especially as I heard a horror story about how it takes two months to register a new Zero here in the UK. If I can't pick one up until August, then I'll have to think twice or go back to Streetbike to order mine as they've got the process nailed.
I'm hoping to get a chance to take one for a test ride this week as the demo bikes are expected to land at dealers from tomorrow. No doubt you'll see a first impressions review from me in due course! [emoji4]

So I called my dealer to get an update and if course he didn't know any dates. He says that Zero has a shortage of parts to assemble the bikes and that is why they are being delayed. Not sure how much is true or bull but it is getting tiring.

If it makes you feel better, they are slow playing my DSR order as well.
My FX came pretty quick in February, but they are telling me ship mid June for DSR.

I may have missed it but has anyone seen or recieved an SR/F that wasn't a demo bike?
I know at least one person claimed to have purchased a demo bike, but have there been any production bikes at all?
I ordered on March 10 and left a deposit. When my dealer had no update information I contacted Zero at the beginning of April. They replied "The dealer should keep you updated but currently we are looking at the end of April to mid May." No word at all since than, same as most of you. I wonder if they have shipped any production bikes at all or whether there might have been some (minor or significant) problem with components. If it were simply issues ramping up the assembly process I should have expected production bikes to be trickling out by now.
Either way the lack of information coming out of Zero is somewhat concerning. This is my first dealing with the company. Unlike Lightning they are a real motorcycle company, but I would hope they would offer better information. I put off purchasing a similarly priced sports touring bike for the SR/F and here in Texas we are well into the riding season.

An interesting note...my dealer said that Zero told him the bike was on a truck to ship last week, and they then took all the bikes off the truck to address some issue. It is still “scheduled to ship this week†from the update I got from the dealer today, but they couldn’t give me the VIN.
Sounds to me like they may have discovered a bug they wanted to address before shipping the bikes out, but who knows.

We're expecting customer bikes to land here in the UK in a couple of weeks. I'm not holding my breadth though. If I get mine on the road and registered by the end of June I'll be happy.
If there is any truth in that, it must mean they were put on a ship a good while ago. Bikes are definitely coming off the line and I hear Zero have the capacity to produce 8000 bikes a year, in total, including all models. The SRF is bound to be more profitable than all the others, so they'll stamp as many out as they can before they have to start manufacturing the 2020 bikes.
As for the lack of information, that's simply due to a lack of staff to service enquiries like that. All good things come to those who wait. At least we're not trying to buy a BMW S1000RR. Put your money down now and you'll be lucky to get one in January!

Your dealer will probably be told by Zero that they cannot sell it to anybody when it arrives.
I was ready to buy the only SR/F here in Reno right on the spot until another sales guy told the guy I was dealing with that they were not allowed by Zero to sell their SR/F demo bike. Perhaps not until they have other SR/F's in stock that are waiting to be sold, and we all know that won't be for a while.

Either way the lack of information coming out of Zero is somewhat concerning. This is my first dealing with the company. Unlike Lightning they are a real motorcycle company, but I would hope they would offer better information. I put off purchasing a similarly priced sports touring bike for the SR/F and here in Texas we are well into the riding season.
Hey Bill, this is so similar to my situation. I have been following Zero for a few years at the motorcycle shows. They always peaked my interest but I never really thought about buying an electric bike. I was originally looking to purchase a touring bike (which would have been more cash) but i decided to test ride a Zero first being I was hearing they were announcing a new bike. After I test rode an SR I knew I wanted to see what this new bike offered. When the SR/F was announced it was 95% of what I wanted in an electric bike. So I abandoned the idea of the touring bike and put a deposit on the SR/F at the beginning of March. Since then I have questioned my choice a few times.
My main complaint is the lack of communication. It seems Zero is telling us nothing and the dealers know less. I understand with a new bike there are some setbacks and growing pains. If they communicated with the dealers what was causing the delays and the dealers told the customers I could respect that. Even if they hit an unacceptable delay due to a major problem, if I had the true information, I could make an informed decision whether to wait. Right now all I have is a card from them saying my bike was being built last week. So how long does it take to build a bike? You would think even if they were the slowest workers in the world, it should be done this week and shipping next week. Well I just called my dealer and he knew nothing about my bike being built or when it was shipping. He was guessing maybe they ran out of parts. He didn't know what excuse to use for Zero anymore.
So here where I stand now. If they deliver the bike in the next few weeks and it is really great, all the bad feelings will be forgotten and I will be a new Zero convert. If they deliver a piece of garbage after all this time or they keep me waiting in the dark until July where i have to pull my deposit back, I will be pissed that I spent half the riding season waiting on the SR/F and missing sales on the other bike and become one of the people who will look for opportunities to tell people how I really feel about the company.

GaryArt1: Zero is a small boutique manufacturer building a new high tech machine. I understand their situation since I ran a similar business for years (decades, actually). On a new product launch everything hinges on your suppliers delivering countless parts correctly made and doing so in a timely manner. Any one supplier or part error can stop the whole line. gstrub's post above pretty well satisfies me on that point. Finding one bad wire harness 2 weeks into production would be enough to stop everything and inspect all the harnesses, even stop deliveries already shipped if the error is severe enough that the dealer couldn't rectify it.
Prototype parts from suppliers are always carefully inspected. Pre-production parts get above average QC inspections. It's the first big batch of custom parts where things can get suddenly sketchy. I've seen it happen much more than once.
But when I had an issue with production that would impact delivery dates I was always upfront about it. I also fought against optimistic delivery dates. Zero is a manufacturer, not a distributor. They don't have the manpower to deal with every consumer. That's why they have dealers. What annoys me is that they haven't kept their real customers, Their dealers, informed. Now dealers, it appears, have little information to give concerned customers like you and me. This poor and inaccurate information spreads bad feelings where there should (I hope) be none.
So GaryArt!, I think we should be patient.
But this post is really for Jeff Jolin @ Zero. An accurate "I don't know" or "we're fixing a problem" puts you miles ahead with customers. Really. Just read the posts in this thread.

Bill. I agree with most of what you said. I never expected Zero to contact customers directly to keep them informed of the progress. I did expect them to keep their dealer reps informed who would keep their dealers informed who would then keep us informed. This is the way it should work and actually the smaller the company, the better this system should work. I have learned from my work in crisis management that the only thing worse that no information is false information. The problem is false information will then have you always questioning the validity of any real information after it. That is what I think we are getting now. I think dealers are getting tired of customers calling them on the status of their bikes and not having any information to give them. I mean how often can they say maybe in two more weeks. So the dealers are forming their own stories of what is happening. This is how we have information from the bikes were on trucks ready to ship and were pulled off to fix a problem, to they have run out of parts to complete the bikes to European bikes have already arrived there and are ready to distribute. You do not know what to believe. If Zero discovered a big problem we all would have appreciated them holding back release to fix the problem rather than ship us a defective bike. All they had to do is to have there dealers reps put out the message that they found an issue and are actively working to correct it so they can send out their best product and it should be approximately X more weeks for shipments. If they are running out of parts, that is another story. The only “real†information I got from Zero is that last week they were building my bike. If I didn’t know better, it looked like they even sent a photo of my bike being built. If they didn’t have the parts to complete the bike, then this is a untruthful marketing campaign to keep the customers on the line and not pulling their deposits. Then that would make me question anything that came out of the company in the future. I mean Zero had to know this launch would be big. They talked about how much effort went in to make the perfect bike. If they misestimated the response, that is kind of their fault. If they rushed the launch to beat out Harley and Lightning, once again, their fault. And by the way they are still taking orders and make delivery promises. What it comes down to if I was told in March that the delivery wouldn’t be until the end of the summer, I could have then made an informed decision as to whether this is a bike I wanted to order. As of right now, I am totally in the dark as to when my bike is coming. All i know is that they said it was being built but no one knows if it was completed and when it will ship. And BTW, my dealer seemed even surprised we got a note about the bikes being built.

At least Zero is not doing what BMW typically does when they introduce an entirely new model. They love to start selling their new bikes during the middle of winter, when most people's riding season is over. ::)

we don’t know that they are not lol. Bike was supposed to be out 2 months ago. Going into summer now with smoke and mirrors still. Soon we could be heading into fall in the exact same situation. Why? Because no one has real info. Hopefully the bike actually ships in June to actual customers but hopefully has been the cursed word of this whole process.

Let's really hope this is the start of good things to come. Best case is next week the dealers start getting some much needed information on bikes being shipped and the week after deliveries to customers are done. A while back someone mentioned that Zero may make a big batch of preorders and then ship them out all at once to dealers. Let's hope this is the case.

Just talked with my dealer. He confirmed I am in Group A. I ordered on March 12th. It will be great once I hear that is actually ships and get a definite delivery date. I am guessing this should be in next 2 weeks sometime for it to make the June delivery. I can't wait. Looking forward to joining the Zero ranks.

I can't make an attachment, but basically it says deliveries are broken up into three groups; A for June, B for July, C for August, and that you should contact your dealer to find out what group you're in.

I saw information here (or FB?) talking about the 3 stage deliver schedule - A B and C.
It was mentioned in that post that the dealers would have information on which group you were in.
This past Saturday, I did go to my dealership and I was told that my bike was in the A group.
There were statements made that the bike is most likely in transit at the time, and if so, it was probably that it would arrive this Friday.
(as a side note, guess who is too busy Friday and Saturday to go pick up a new bike)
(but if it shows up, I am taking time off Monday)

Well my order got put in at least according to the dealer on March 11th. The dealer told me I’m in Group A. So you should probably be in the front of Group B. TBH I am still not 100% confident I will get my bike by the end of the month. Either way, it should be soon we are talking talking about the bikes we own and not ones have on order.

Preordered an SRF Premium on 18th May (in the UK). The purchase is on the condition of me going for a test ride on a demo bike.
I chased the dealer today and was told they expect my bike to be ready in August (or possibly July if lucky). Strangely, they said they were told by Zero that the bike orders were going through BEFORE any demo bikes will be delivered.
That seems to conflict with what I've read here. Not fussed either way though.

My SR/F arrived at the dealership today! They said I could get it Thursday...unfortunately I don’t think I can pick it up until Saturday at the earliest and maybe not even until the next weekend (it’s a 6hr drive to the dealership).

I guess I was mistaken, zero emailed me yesterday and said that my package was shipped out last week, said I should get it any day now, and confirmed I am group B should be receiving my bike no later than end of July. No VIN yet tho.

- How much bar riser can I install without headaches or replacing a lot of wiring etc?
- to charge at a campground 14-50 240v outlet, do I need just a cable or do I need a Clipper Creek or similar?

What happened to that post that someone Said his bike arrived at the dealership and was ready to pick up, but turns out it was a demo that the dealership was selling him. I thought the post was on this topic but now can't find it. I thought it was weird because I didn't think dealers were allowed to sell their demos. Just wondering how it turned out.

That’s me, picking it up this weekend. Zero said it was up to the dealership if they wanted to sell their demo. I didn’t know I was getting their demo until a couple weeks ago, not sure why the dealership decided to do that rather than order me a pre-sale bike. I got my ViN yesterday:)

So here is the second actual customer bike I see delivered so far in between here and Facebook. Here’s hoping Zero has a busy next two weeks to meet it’s obligation to the Group A preorders. And so far, my dealer still knows nothing of shipment/delivery dates so I am hoping it just shows up one day to both our surprise.

Folks were saying Zero was penalizing dealers for selling their demo - but I never heard what the penalty was.
All my dealer told me was that if they sold their demo bike, Zero wouldn't sell them another demo.

I spoke to Jason at Streetbike last week and it sounds like customer deliveries have slipped to July here in the UK. From a post Jason made on Facebook, he said there are 7 containers full of SRFs on their way here. Hopefully that'll satisfy initial demand and provide stock for new customers. I wonder how big the containers are and how many bikes fit in each one? It might be that the seven containers are going to the European distribution centre. I can't imagine Zero have sold that many just in the UK, or that Zero have managed to build more than that for the European market.

Source a 40A (NEC recommended 80% of 50A outlet) travel J1772 adapter to use with your SR/F. If you want access to Tesla Destination Charging then I would suggest a 3rd-party TeslaTap and also acquire a travel charger of some sort second-hand from a Tesla owner. The "corded generation 1" travel charger packaged with Model S/X was 40A and wired to 14-50. The travel charger "generation 2" with every Model 3 is only 32A but it has quick change outlet plugs for 14-50 5-15 and others are available. Those Model 3 are selling like hotcakes so there is a surplus of "gen 2" travel chargers although notably Tesla has started phasing out the 14-50 connector as a freebie (it and other quick connector plugs remain for order on the Tesla website and aftermarket clones as well). The SR/F in 3kW+3kW configuration should (I am guessing here) max out at 32A.
A truly awesome hack would be to switch in a Tesla-style inlet that can handle the 3kW+3kW+6kW SR/F configuration.

The tank lid on my 2017 dsr looks just as bad. Poor fit and finish by Zero unfortunately.

The rubber seal for the storage compartment is too thick, an easy fix would be to trim down the seal and drill new mounting holes for the hinge pins

Rather than delay the already delayed shipments of the customer bikes they are going to ship as is and once the parts are in, will have the dealers install. My SR/F also has the panel gap. The seal appears to have reasonable pressure on it.
Looking at the radar, I might have an opportunity to test the seal on the way home tonight.

Test rode one Saturday, what a awesome step forward for Zero.
It wanted to lift front wheel like an Energica, and has a robust belt, very nice. Definitely a bigger frame and tank, a more powerful feel. I am now having a bit of regret because I feel like I should've just purchased the base model with the additional 6.6Kw charger add on to get 9.9Kw for the same price as the premium model. I was already planning on putting bar end mirrors on, so that removes the premium bar ends, I live in Florida so I don't need the heated grips, and I don't really care about that plastic cover on the front.

Ahh yea, I didn't consider the potential additional wait times. I have seen that plenty of the "6.6" level 2 chargers seem to be able to do around 9 in quite a few areas, but it is hit or miss. I was going to get a 10Kw station in my garage too. Owell, I'm sure I'll be happy with my premium model whenever I finally get it.

An easy fix that will make you feel a lot better about your choice . . .
Add on the Power Tank when it comes out in a couple of months and then you will be very glad that you did NOT buy the 3.3 KW version.
I will consider the SR/F after it's been on the road for a while and all the accessories are available. And I will only consider the premium with the power tank.

Yeah, 12 KW charging will rarely be useful here in the USA unless things start to change here.
But where will you find DC charging for the lightning? What voltage does it need for its DC charging?

Either way, I'm hoping the Lightning is as good as it sounds on paper, because I will be trading in my SR/F if there is a lightning dealer that opens up within a reasonable distance from me. On paper it is better than the SR/F in almost every way.

True, but won't find a used SR/F for a bit. DC's are growing in number, the 12Kw may never even happen. Would have to look into the Lightning more to see what type of DC charging they use. I wish Lightning and Zero were working together because I think combined they could've had a true winner this year.
More people are buying streetfighters nowadays, seems to be the growing trend vs buying supersport bikes. So that is a plus for Zero, along with the ABS, stability control, and smart technology.
The problem is, people will still complain about the range and charge time. The lightning solves both of those problems..for the most part. DC isn't perfect, but it is better than banking on the 12Kw. Making the SR/F with the Lightning Carbons battery, lvl 3 charging and selling it closer to 16-17k would probably have a lot of ICE bike riders consider buying it.
Or better yet, Tesla should just buy Zero and rebadge them. That would boost sales and give us access to all the tesla charging infrastructure.

But for now, the J1772 AC outlets are perhaps the most common--and often free to use, especially here in the Reno area, but that means the charger must be in the vehicle (or carried).
But I don't find it to be a big deal, in most cases. The slower AC charging just means better planning is necessary. And I kinda enjoy the forced breaks to charge, in many cases.
If I am going on a real long trip to the middle of nowhere, I will not consider any E-motocycle. At least not in my lifetime. Maybe someday they will have a very common DC standard for all EVs, which will make them much more popular.
Perhaps the sales of the SR/F will make Zero a larger company--and then be able to buy out Lightning and be even larger!

I'm hoping the SR/F does wonders for Zero, it seems like they sold a lot more than they anticipated. Looking forward to the future. Hard to trust anything Elon Musk says, he's kind of a nutjob sometimes. I doubt they will get into bikes either way tho....the lightning merger would be great.

Dealer called today and said the bike shipped Friday. They weren't sure if that meant it was on the truck Friday or if it got loaded today. They are expecting it some time this week yet.

When mine was shipped on a Tuesday I couldn’t get it until the following Friday. It’s worth the wait!

I was told that mine was in transit on a Monday, with an expected (but not confirmed) delivery Friday.
It arrived at the dealership Friday and was available for pickup that day.
Unfortunately, I was out of town and did not pick up until the following Wednesday.
I have 444 miles on it so far. :-D
I also have a bit of sunburn from riding it without my jacket this weekend.

That color blue looks a lot darker than any other pictures I've seen. I thought it was more of a powder blue that I don't care for. But it looks real nice in your pic. I guess I need to see one in person.

He vinyl wrapped his bike. Looks like he did an awesome job of it too. The stock blue is much lighter.

So I guess my answer has to be Yes and No. As the end of June was approaching I started getting concerned and wrote Zero directly. I found out my dealer made a "mistake" when he told me I was in Group A and I am actually in Group B. Only saving grace is Zero confirmed I am one of first bikes in group B and it should be soon. I wasn't happy with the dealer.

What Gary said. Its a vinyl wrap. I really didn't like the two colors it comes in. I know its super nerdy, but I bought the HJC carbon helmet with the Cars 3 Jackson Storm livery on it. That color matches the secondary color in the helmet really well. The plan is to black out all the bright silver pieces to tie it in to the helmet even more. And then I'm going to figure out what kind of graphics to overlay.
But I've got to take a step back and probably redo the vinyl wrap in plastidip. There are some complicated shapes that don't wrap well, the front fender being the worst of them. Looks great from a few feet away, but up close there are some flaws that i'm not happy with.

They got an email on Saturday that it had shipped Thursday. The truck arrived Tuesday morning when they opened (closed Monday).

1 month, 6 days.
I do commute. 75ish miles a day. I take the car or truck if it is clear I will get soaked on the way to work but if it does not look torrential, I still ride. And the ride home can be as wet as anything, I'll still ride.
I do fun trips. I am close to the Emerald Necklace in Ohio.

My house is at the red dot lower left and work is the blue dot upper right. From my house I can jump on the parkway in a few minutes then ride for ages at 30mph.
If I head north to the Lake, there is a Whole Foods at the top with a charge station.
If I head south then east, I end up at the Brecksville Reservation, enjoying riding along the tow path.
I can make about 80% of my commute on the parkway with the rest surface streets, but it adds a fair bit of time. I have done this as part of my experiments with range at different riding styles.

My dealer here in VA says mine has arrived. Less than 8 weeks since ordered. Perhaps Zero are starting to catch up with demand.

You can get the FW version without any special equipment, but it takes a little time/effort.
Use the Zero app to connect Bluetooth and email yourself the log binaries. Then run the Zero log parser utility that Brian maintains and it will show the firmware version at the top of the output (mine is 49).
The prerequisites are to clone the git repo https://github.com/zero-motorcycle-community/zero-log-parser or at least download the zero_log_parser.py Python script, and also having Python 2 installed so you can run the script.

This is news to me. What results does one get? (I don’t really maintain these, more like manage the source, but it might make sense over time)
Remember that the method for building a log decoder is to get Zero’s official decoded version of a log file and build up the decoding functions until they produce the same output. Then you do it a hundred times for a hundred different models and configurations.
