Title: Homebuilt electric moped

I saw this DIY electric moped today. It was built by a teenager in a local high school shop class. I thought it was a nice job and it got the owner the 20 miles up into the Santa Cruz Mountains to Alice's Restaurant, where he was recharging the batteries while having breakfast. Unfortunately right after I took this photo, one of the cooks opened up the door behind the bike and knocked it over.  He picked it back up and apparently there was no damage, so all seemed good.  :)

Nice bike!  From which side did he come, though?

The last time I saw the rider he was heading northbound on Skyline. He said he was planning to ride down Tunitas Creek, west to highway 1. I wished him well and hoped the he didn't run out of power on the way back home.
