Hey guys new member, but statistically a dinosaur.
Saw my first E-bike the other day at the local shops and waited till the guy came out and assaulted the poor bugger with a million stupid questions.
I have ridden nearly all disciplines of motorcycling except ice racing and yes I'd give it a go !
I ride only HD's now and for the last 30 years it has been mostly HD's and just a few Honda dirt bikes here and there as well.
I ride an 18 FXBB ,don't know if that's a dirty word around here yet ??
My next bike will be an E-bike so I am here to basically "tech up" hard out and meet a few people who own these bikes to find out more.

Yea I'll bet you do reach for the clutch lever a bit right , so what happens when you go back to a regular bike ?. I rode a Husky 390 Auto once that was weird.
Man a test drive here in Australia could be a bit too hard,thinking of just buying one and shipping it over, I'm on here to work out which one to get.

I haven't done it, so I can't speak from experience, but I doubt it'll be a problem. You don't forget one language just because you learn another.
Even after all these years, I'd be willing to bet that I could jump into a stick-shift car and still feel right at home.

Agreed... I think the muscle memory is actually stored across two different brain paths ;D ... in my experience, the *first* time you switch from one to the other can come with a bit of brain stutter, but after experiencing that the first time, I've never really had it recur on subsequent switches.

I have a Zero and also 5 IC motorcycles. I ride them all at least once a week and I have no problems with muscle memory when it comes to reaching or not reaching for the clutch. It has just never happened to me. Each motorcycle is so different that I automatically switch from one brain mode to another. ;)

Guys it was just a trivial observation about the clutch ,I drive an auto car but yea anytime I drive stick I have no worries.
Yea I've been riding for over 40 years I think after an Ebike I'd find the clutch again .

Well, the good news is that perhaps you can go electric and remain a Harley guy! Harley is coming out with an electric called the LiveWire. Check it out.

Don't worry about it, the high rpm gas-engine whine will trigger the shift-up behavior, and lugging will trigger shift-down behavior. And when you are back on electric, you'll get used to the absence of those things.

I picked up my 16 DSR in May of last year and have put about 18k miles on it to date.
I still have an ICE bike for the occasional useage that can't be accomplished with the limited range of the Zero.
When I switch rides, I don't have much issues on the ICE but when going back to EV I find myself covering the "Phantom" clutch lever ;D

And start to do the opposite on ICE bikes. Many times I forget to put in my clutch at a stop on one of my ICE bikes because I am so used to the E-bikes that I ride every day.
