Today I saw my first BMW I8 sports car and took the attached photos. But after arriving home I googled the car and discovered that it cost something like $140,000 and is a hybrid with a battery that has less than half the capacity of the one in my Zero. :o Kind of disappointing, really. :( But the car looks nice even if it won't travel more than 15 miles on electrical power. :-[

Have you had the opportunity to install in the driver's bathtub? Didn't say "actually driving" the car.
It is such a low racer, and the doors open in a way that they always prevent easy access.
I tried once. It is a torture to get into the car. Once installed, the position is quite comfortable. Getting out the car is easier but somehow you finish rolling on the ground, which is not so good for one's pride!
Maybe it's OK for drivers not smaller than 160cm and not greater than 170cm, and not older than 25 years so as to have the necessary bendability to get into it.
At that price tag, it's only for young golden boyzs!

I've always really liked the look of this car since I first saw one in 2015. It has more visual appeal than a Tesla Model S.
But yeah, the (sticker) price to value equation is not good on this car. Twice as much battery capacity would seem to change its TCO and performance.
I've considered picking up a used model if I run into a payday in the startup business; I've heard that the car's value depreciates quickly so acquiring a used model (especially with the original brighter color scheme) might fall at or under $70k.
I hope BMW takes the frame and reworks it for a fully-electric version or at least shifts the hybrid equation on it so that it's mostly electric with a generator. I don't mind that it's an inconvenient car; it's clearly made to appeal to the aspirational sportscar market.

The mileage is WAY better. I am a Valet in Vegas
Plugged one in yesterday and when it was unplugged at FULL
charge, it showed NINETEEN miles of EV range.
Seriously, I have the opportunity to drive everything
on the road today. I see them new, a year later, a few
years later etc. I wouldn't own a BMW if you gave it to me.
They are among the worst for electrical problems. I have
no idea how they get good reviews for the I3, maybe because
it hasn't had time to have any REAL data. European vehicles
in general are not very good after a few years. Asian and US
seem to be the best for longevity. Many if not Most of the
Asian manufacturers now have factories in the U.S. I heard
that the plug in Cadillac is built in China. Looked at inventory

Pretty sure that leading "L" is for China.
