Does anybody have a link to a wrench that fits into the tight squeeze to adjust the sag on the 2017 DSR.
I have two spanner wrenches that don't fit, I don't want to use a crewdriver and mallet.
It's so specific, I'd love to see this added as on board tooling for the Zeros.
I can find it, but rather see if anybody already has found theirs and is willing to share the online source.

Note that the manual from page 4.15 to 4.17 covers this, and that the compression adjustment is easy to do by hand, but the preload and rebound adjustment tools are not clearly specified.

I think I saw mention of a new Motion Pro universal lock ring suspension pre-load adjustment tool that they had designed and are marketing now. Nothing but a fancy punch, but all of their tools are pretty neat and designed to work properly, so it is likely better for adjusting pre-load than the long steel punch or the old flat blade screwdriver in my tool box. ;)

Guys, thanks for picking up on that.
I didn't want to use the punch method, but given, the brass makes the difference and transfers the deformation of the metal to the tool instead of the adjustment ring when doing it with a regular flat head screw driver.
I'll simply take a piece of brass and turn a handle on it and a tip and punch away.

But yes, if anybody finds (including myself) another tool that fits under the tight space of the controller cooling fins, please let us know.

I am too light for my preload in the rear, my shock isn't responsive enough right now.
I am already eating two quarts of ice cream a night, bit it's still a bit stiff in the back ;D

I bought a cheap flat spanner wrench, basically a stamped piece of 3mm metal on the right shape. It fits there, but the version I bought is too small in diameter. If someone knows the exact diameter needed, I think these are available for sale in different sizes. The clearance is tight, but I think it should work in the right size. So, does anyone know the necessary diameter?

I'll measure tomorrow.
I have two with the proper radius, but there is simply not enough room below the cooling fins to get the leverage on this or the position is wrong for the wrench to swing around.
We might have to revert the punch method.
I am a bit surprised that zero has this nice SAG adjustment procedure in their manual, which is not normal I think for manufacturers, since people usually know about how to do this anyway, but then they don't provide the tool, or offer an accessory part number for extra purchase.
Beyond me, such a simple easy detail with such a big impact.
I have been riding mine with a too much preload for a month now since the spanner I had simply doesn't work and the one I bought neither.
And I didn't want to use the screw driver and damage the adjuster.

I find that people generally don't know how to adjust their suspension. Where do they learn that they can if not a manual? Not everyone pays attention to motorcycle technical forums or discussions.

My rear suspension is just about perfect for me in terms of spring preload and rate. But it is way too soft for me and a passanger. Having a quick way to change preload would be very helpful. I play with the rebound and compression rates, and that helps, but not enough.

Brian, you are right.
I meant that the people who buy bikes like these (fully adjustable suspension) know how to do this, but that is also not correct and I agree with you.
I think the only people catergorically know how to adjust sag are the motocross people and the road race crews.
But there is a bit of information out there how to set your sag and I thought it was super cool that zero put it in their manual, but leave you hanging with no reference to a tool.

The diameter of the adjuster sleeve is 58mm or 2.3".
Today I tried the spanner I bought from Cycle Gear last week again and finally saw that the nose of the wrench was too thick, so I ground it down with an angle grinder.
Now the nose fits, the entire wrench fits, but you cannot adjust it all you want, since the cooling fins of the controller are in the way.
So..... to reduce the tension, I had to bend the wrench a couple of degrees so it would clear the fins.
If I want to increase the preload, I'd have to bend the wrench into the other direction.
Luckily the steel they used is chinese pudding steel.
I attached pictures of the wrench, It is only $10 bucks, but I guess you need two in the long run then.

No, it will bend. I have a bunch of shock spanners collected over the years, including at least one that has a pivot on the hook end that is quite useful. Even better, I have one that is just the hook part that attaches to a 3/8 inch drive ratchet wrench that works really well as you can use the ratchet to provide just about any horizontal angle that you need for leverage. However, as mentioned above, Zero doesn't give enough clearance between the controller and the shock adjustment ring for most wrenches, so I like rider 7's solution to the problem.

I have the hook only one too, but couldn't get it to work, although I'll check it again since I think the nose thickness was something I didn't expect to be an issue.
Come to think, there is nothing that should have prevented it from going in, since the radius was good.
If this one works with a ratchet, oh... you know what, you are right, I remember, the fins are on the way..... never mind.
For $9.98 (times 2) at cycle gear and a bit of modifying, I think it's a good solution.
I'll try to out an adjustment hinge in there to have one for both directions.
I'll post pictures.

I used one similar to that but the pin at the end was more of a hook shape, had to shave it down to about half the width with an angle grinder to get it to fit.
