Title: 2012 XU "hiccups"
Post by: gubbin on April 25, 2016, 06:43:18 AM
Howdy!  Just got a 2012 XU yesterday and am enjoying the heck out of it.  Ran it down to 2 bars in a little over 20 miles of in-town riding today.  I'm sure the battery is a little tired and I'm a little heavy on the throttle. :)
One problem: when I first turn on the key, it will "hiccup": that is when I twist the throttle, the motor runs, then stops for a half-second, then runs again for a half-second, about 3-4 times.  After that, it's smooth sailing.
These hiccups happen every single time I turn on the key, whatever the SOC or temperature.  I always wait for the "bootup" before twisting the throttle.
More interesting: During the "hiccups", if I let off the throttle, roll backward or anything like that, it just refuses to run until I turn the key off and on again.
I don't recall the display showing anything.

Anyone experienced that?  I've searched the forums but no luck.
I don't think it's the throttle itself, everything is fine after the initial hiccups.  Maybe it's the Sevcon doing a PID autotune or something?

Don't believe so. Got it from a nice fellow in Washington State.
Bone stock, but I expect I'll customize it a little.
