Title: Zero SR in New Zealand
Post by: mistasam on April 20, 2016, 08:08:24 AM
Hey everybody!  My name is Sam and I'm a Californian living in Wellington, NZ.  I just imported my bike over here and I'm starting a mystical EV quest.  I've decided to ride on EVERY road in the city and surrounding area to show people that it's possible to go anywhere you'd need to go by using only electric power.

I'll be mapping my trips here:

www.newzeroland.blogspot.com (http://www.newzeroland.blogspot.com)

and eventually shooting a bunch of videos like this one:

If anyone on here is in NZ, hit me up!  Cheers-

- Sam

Unfortunately, I've only visited New Zealand for a couple of weeks on my V-Strom, but your bucket list should include the Forgotten World Highway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealand_State_Highway_43) if at all possible. It would be quite a project to handle that on a Zero, but a good charger and a reasonably good windshield going below 55mph should handle it easily.

Even without that, you'll have plenty of time to try other really great roads.

I believe in your quest, and I believe in you!

Have fun on that, man and keep us posted along the way.

YES!  I've been wanting to go there for a while.  Yea, it looks crazy long.  Even getting there from Wellington would take a while.  I'm looking forward to the DigiNow charger's abilities.  More vids and photos to come!

KIA ORA SAM!

At this stage in the Polynesian triangle (HAWAII/ NZ/ EASTER ISLAND), we are very few (lucky!) bikers riding ZERO motorcycles: 2 in Hawaii, you in NZ , and us, ZEM TAHITI, official dealer for ZERO. We ride often the demo bike, a 2015 SR... A DSR is just out of docks, so now 4 ZERO already here in Tahiti ! This DSR will be delivered soon, the happy owner is travelling.

There are some incredible roads in NZ. I'm envious.

Keep us posted, please!

I've tried to broaden Sam's horizons a little and hopefully he and I can complete the first traverse from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island on Ebikes. It's a mission because we need to pull it all together and I need to up the range on my bike (new batts)...but hopefully we can pull it together perhaps next summer...

In the meantime Sam, best of luck with wellington roads. A trip out to Makara would go well on video, as well as up and over the Paikakariki Hill (lived in welly for 10yrs).  8)
