Title: The 2-3 / 2-4 Error is back !
Post by: zerotracer on February 18, 2016, 05:39:51 AM
I have charged my 2013 Zero S ZF11.4 bike every week here in the Winter, no problem.
But last weekend the 2-3 fault code emerged when I try to charge. "Controller Area Network (CAN) Error"

When I turn on the bike the code "Battery Management System (BMS) Throttle Disable" shows.

In the summer 2014 the BMS was replaced and the problem and symptoms was the same as now  :(

It may not help much, but a log parser (https://github.com/KimBurgess/zero-log-parser) is available to maybe provide a little more insight. Just use the app to email the logs to yourself.

The bike is now at the dealer and they are replacing the whole battery pack, so I get a upgrade from ZF11.4 to ZF12.5
They say the error is known on the 2013 models and Zero will upgrade the bike for free, even the warranty has expired  :)

But the repair will take about a month.

I´m happy just to get the repair for free, and super happy to get a brand new and bigger battery  :D

Dang. That's a nice silver lining to your problem! Kudos to Zero and the dealer.

I'm also getting the battery replaced, I hope that with the new battery I can now get the power tank and possibly have the aux charge port capable of accepting more than 30 amps , hello diginow super charger!

Wow, that must be a huge financial hit for Zero to replace the most expensive part of a full year of bike production!
Let's hope that they don't get into financial problems and that they can continue to innovative at the same pace as before.

Money not spent in ensuring 100% quality control will hurt you tenfold by repairing faults.

Zero should look at six sigma to improve.
