Title: 2014 DS wheel seals
Post by: pacificcricket on November 11, 2015, 11:27:46 AM
My non-Zero mechanic said my front bearings need replacement due to rust, and he would like to replace the seals as well.
Well, bearings have the part number, but seals don't. Has anyone replaced the seals and can recommend some source ?

If the DS bearings are 6904 types (20x37x9), the correct seals are likely 25x37x6, the same as the '14 FX.  Suzuki 09283-25083 or 09283-25097 seals are a better choice than the OEM 25x37x7 ones, which are too deep for the seal pocket.

Ray,

I've purchased both 7 and 6 mm seals, to give my mechanic both options. Ordered them here :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/131275932891?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT (http://www.ebay.com/itm/131275932891?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT)

Mechanic basically said that 7mm version was exactly like the factory, and fitted perfectly. So perhaps there is a difference
between DS and FX wheels...

Yes, the 7mm-wide seals should fit exactly like the factory seals.  One of my OEM Zero seals had self-destructed and I was looking for better replacements so I went with the Suzuki seals, which also fit my wheels flush like the ones on all my ICE bikes.  Perhaps the DS wheels have deeper seal pockets than the FX wheels.

Yeah, that's possible. In any case, this info might be useful to somebody in the future, so I wanted to follow up :)
