So I got a honda odyssey go kart fl350 and want to make it electric. I wanted to use a motor that was comparable to the motor in my FX. Long story short I can confirm that Zero will not sell motors to individuals. ::). I saw a few months ago someone posted that they made motors that were comparable to Zero's motors and was offering them... I have not been able to find what thread that was in. Does anyone know who that was or what it was that they were selling...or if there is anything comparable in performance for a reasonable price?

For what I need it for it isn't even close. I may have tracked down an SR motor but I will have to keep my eyes open....

Agni made the 95R brushed motors for the 2010 models. I wouldn't recommend those since the brushed burned out, but they might make some others that would work. I remember pricing one a couple years ago and they priced it in pounds sterling as I recall and it was too expensive...more than Zero would charge. Really if all you need is the electric motor, I think you have a lot of choices since there are a ton of electric motors of all sizes out there. The challenge is going to be everything else..gears, charging, controller, cooling, etc. If I were going to use motors on a kart, I would go with 2 motors...one for the front wheels and one for the back.

to go with 2 motors you basically have to go with complete seperate circuits....
that would be in general, to make a dual zero platform you would need identical motors, everything identical, encoder angles, length of all the copper in the motor and leaving the motor.
Im skeptical of the Agni motors I have one of the chromes and man it didnt handle as good as what I thought it was going to. The original smaller seemed like it managed the heat much better, now im going to try something like what steven is talking about with the ZF motor
heat is always an issues with vehicles over the weight of the Zeros.
I beleive steven and I both are 2wd, his off road obviously and im in a shifter kart

A few years ago my college's electric vehicle team acquired two 75-7 motors and two size 6 Sevcon controllers from Hollywood Electrics. Zero may not sell directly but some of the dealerships may be able to help.

This is hard....I am really thinking about getting an SR motor....but I don't have any other equipment. What am I missing to make a working platform: Motor, controller, batteries, contractor, throttle, wire harness, connectors.... don't need a MBB....right?
