Curious if you lose usable space, nearest dealer is 100 miles.

Big enough to call a lunch box. I can fit a water bottle, an iPad Mini, and snacks usually. But it's not waterproof at all. I much prefer having and using a top case or tail bag.

I would'nt call it usable space.
I can *just* fit a 1.5m Type 2 charging cable in there. Or a bike cover with no space to spare.
I'd fit a power tank in an instant if I could, and when I replace my bike next year that's what I fully intend to do.

That storage area was one of the best things about the bike for me. I kept my phone, glasses, and cut down a McDonald's cup holder so I could secure a soda refill to go in there. It's about 8" deep...large enough for a large drink with plenty of room left over around it.

It can fit a bucket of KFC chicken (yes, I live in America).

Thanks for the replies.

I use the storage every ride for the charging cable. On workdays I add a snack for break and my lunch items and at the end of the day I store my swap out riding gear for the warm ride home. I have carried a quart of ice cream (yes, it was delicious)! I find the storage space extremely useful.
That is actually the feature that people find the most impressive on a motorcycle: storage space on a sexy bike.
To powertank or not to powertank has really come down to losing storage and so far storage has won.
