Title: Is the extended battery removable? (2015 Zero DS)
Post by: Lecram on August 25, 2015, 05:45:35 PM
I am wondering if it is possible to remove the extended battery (Power Tank) without getting technical issues. I still have the 'dummy' connector that got removed by the dealer when they mounted this battery.

(the reason why I want to remove this battery is not that relevant ;) )

Technically everything is physically removable... ;)

I'd say a more important question is:
Does the firmware need to be re-flashed on the MBB to let the bike know the Power Tank has been removed?

That's exactly what I need to know. I know how to remove the battery, but don't know if this will cause technical issues.

I believe the Power Tank was intended to be an accessory the customer could buy and install later, so I would think it wouldn't require any reprogramming. But don't take my word for it, your dealer should know.

To my knowledge the power tank was designed to be installed once by the dealer and then kept on the bike.
