Title: New battery cell monitoring system from NASA
Post by: trikester on July 21, 2015, 11:00:01 PM
I just got this item from my NASA newsletter. It can monitor cells using fewer connections and also identify a bad cell in a parallel configuration.

No info about how its wired, a block diagram would have explained it better. :(

I agree!

As near as I could interpret from the description, the current into and out of each cell passes through the saturating transformers (porbably one for each cell). Then the signals from those must be a part of some kind of network. That's just my generalized guess. How they get cell health information from those transformers I don't have any idea.
