Hi!
After 2 years with Electric Cars (Leaf and Tesla) its time to sell my last Ice veichle (Honda VFR 750) ;D
Its just one bike that i consider, and thats is a Zero SR. My local dealer in Norway can sell me a new 2014 with powertank at 1500$ less than a brand new 2015 model (without powertank). What do you guys think will be the best choice? I dont realy need the extra kWh, but its nice to have 8)

Don't forget it's not just extra kWh, it's also really nice suspension & brakes, including ABS on the '15. It was a no-brainer for me to get the '15.

KaiRK,
How important is CHAdeMO to you? You can get it for a 2014 but not a 2015 model. Just something else to think about.

The powertank is included on the 2014 only, if I want it on the 2015 its about 3000$ extra.
How much better are the suspension on the 2015? Im a heavy rider, so that could me rather important to me...

Hmm.. Thats true.. I really dont know. I gues my girlfriend will be a bit pissed of if im out riding my bike all weekend >:( And I really dont know if all the chademo chargers around here will support 100v. Do you know what make of chademo chargers that support 100v battery pack?

I figure that the Showa suspension is worth about $1000 USD, over the Fast Ace suspension. It will provide a smoother and more controlled ride, especially when cornering around bumpy back road corners. In my opinion the Fast Ace suspension seems to work better the more weight it is carrying and the front fork is certainly strong enough for the weight of the bike. I have my suspension settings dialed down as low as they will go, but I did up my rear shock preload a couple of turns from stock. I would say that the rear shock spring is a little weak.
I weigh about 160 pounds, dressed for riding. My suggestion is to test ride the 2014 model and see how you like the suspension. If you like it, the power tank option is really worthwhile, as it gives a noticeable increase in range, compared with the 11.2 S. I also think the extra 40 pounds located where the fuel tank on an IC bike would be provides a better balance and puts more weight on the front wheel. But the 2015 bike does have ABS, which is worth about $500 USD and might make the bike easier to resell, even if you don't feel the need for ABS.
I would say that if you really value the power tank, get the 2014, but if you don't need the extra range, then the 2015 model might be the better deal for you. decisions, decisions. ;)

I think I have heard that the Nissan fast chargers will work with the Zero. ???

KaiRK,
What part of Norway do you live in? Near Fornebu or Trondheim? Plugshare.com shows CHAdeMO chargers in both areas that are made by ABB which should work with the Zero. There are several chargers that do not have pictures and that makes it hard to know who makes them. If you can find out who makes them then you can find out the specifications on the company web site. Look for DC output range. Maximum should be in the 450-500 volt range and minimum should be 50 volts.

I was in a similar position when I got my '15 SR. The dealer had a '14 in stock that I could have gotten for a better price but the upgrades on the new model are well worth it in my opinion, especially the ABS - that is a very real safety feature. The Pirellis are an upgrade over the IRC's, the wheels are improved and the Showa suspension has already been mentioned. Regarding the Power Tank don't forget that the range is 10% better on the '15 so the PT doesn't make as great a difference. I personally wouldn't want the extra weight nor would I want to lose the handy storage space.

Norway? Doesn't it get snowy and icy there once and a while? ;) Get the 2015 with ABS!!!
Also you said you were a heavy rider. The 2015 suspension is just awesome. That's my choice.
Go with the 2015!
If you find a year or two from now that you need the powertank, you can always order it at a later date. But from what it sounds like most of your riding will not need that range and you are already familiar with how electrics, range and speed work.
That's my vote.

Thank you guys... You all convinced me to go for the 2015 model ;D I think the one thing that i realy would miss on the 2014 model is ABS brakes.
I have to talk to the dealer next week :P
2015 model SR with fastback and all red plastic foiled to the same color as my Brown Tesla sounds just like right for me 8)

Then now you'll be able to compete with a fellow P85D owner with your SR :)

Hi.
I also looked at both the 2014 and 2015 Zero SR, but ordered the 2015 with power-tank, and fast charger from Car Point outside Oslo Norway last week.
was new suspension and abs that made my decision to go for the 2015, hoping they come with a supercharger add on for the 2015 soon....
Looking forward to see more Zero´s swooshing around here in Oslo, and meet more electric 2 wheeler s.
