Yeah, yeah, it's another miracle battery, but this is an interesting sentence that implies it's not a lab queen:

"SolidEnergy’s technology stands out because ... it doesn’t require new lithium-ion battery manufacturing equipment"

I note that the article says that the battery can not be recharged enough times to be useful in electric vehicles.   :(

Lots of new batteries appear to look good in the lab, but they never seem to make into mass production.   ::)

Yeah, but if the capacity is doubled, you will have to charge it only every two days ;)
But still, it is not enough for a phone.

It is a pity they can't match the old Nickel Iron batteries for cycles, they used to outlast the equipment hooked to them, even with extreme abuse of overcharging and total depletion.  They just weigh too much is all, and are filled with nasty corrosive fluids.... Otherwise they are fantastic for virtually unlimited cycles.  The newer ones have a lower self discharge rate now due to the addition of Bismuth compound to the plates, I think it was... The main problem with the original Edison cells, as I understand it was the tendency to go flat by themselves over time.
