It looks like the Tesla Model S P85D is a pretty fast car in a drag race. According to this video, it is a lot faster than a noisy, smoky, Dodge Challenger Hellcat that tried to race it. (It looks like the driver of the Hellcat wasn't all that experienced at operating a clutch and manual transmission, either): https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84411374&x-yt-ts=1421828030&v=kG6veF_34QE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?x-yt-cl=84411374&x-yt-ts=1421828030&v=kG6veF_34QE)

Wish they actually had a good race rather than a jump
Dumb gasoline lovers do not understand 200 ftlbs trq electric > 400hp @ some high rpm number who cares because it's what we rev out to
I hate that hellcat what a joke, tesla makes 20 less and its a 4 door that can pull 11 sec out the gate; and weights mug much more than that hellcat I bet

Check out this video rant by a Hellcat owner. If you can't stand his language, you can go right to around 6 minutes when he tells which cars Hellcat owners should not try to drag race. Pretty funny stuff: http://www.hellcat.org/threads/my-hellcat-pics-is-in-news-but-not-my-lost.3245/G (http://www.hellcat.org/threads/my-hellcat-pics-is-in-news-but-not-my-lost.3245/G)
Guess what vehicle he says not to race. ;D

The muscle car guys are clearly feeling really threatened by the P85D it seems.

I can only imagine this is a joke video, especially the "do not race any jet aircraft" bit.
bigtruckseriesreview posted his "review" of the P85D a couple of months ago. InsideEVs picked it up, but even on thetruthaboutcars where BTSR is a regular poster, he got savaged in the comments.

Horrible launch by the Hellcat driver. I love how he roasts the tires before the race, but got killed in the real race. He would have gotten beat even with a better launch.
Dodge is living in the 70's. Welcome to Yesterday, Dodge owners. Tesla is Today and Tomorrow. I hope it smokes every muscle car on drag strips across America.

hm that's not for real is it?

The hellcat jumped the gun, so he didn't even race. While this type of video is impressive to some average Joe's, anyone who likes real racing will be unimpressed by this. I like the videos where the race is close (but Tesla wins!).

Death Bike vs. Tesla Model S P85 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnGvSEcldzQ#ws) - Then you won't like this video where the Tesla gets smoked by an electric (tandem) bicycleDeath Bike vs. Tesla Model S P85 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnGvSEcldzQ#ws)

I've seen the death bike video before, it's fun!
The difference is that the Tesla in this video was racing while the hellcat in the previous video was not. He didn't even press on his accelerator.
