Today it was nice and warm, so I took off in the morning and rode south down to Portola Valley, via the I-280 frontage roads, then west 2000 feet up Page Mill Road, crossing Skyline Boulevard, then down Alpine Road to Pescadero Road and west to the town of Pescadero, then back north along Stage Road to San Gregorio and Highway 1. Later I stopped at Pillar Point Harbor, where I ate lunch and then rode back home via the Coast Highway. When I arrived home I found that I had traveled 100 miles and only used 66% of my battery pack's charge. A pleasant ride.

Thats really fantastic!
After 2 months of ownership, I fineally set my custom mode to the parameters you suggested...no regen on coasting, and 100% on braking. Boy does that SR like to coast! I think my range around town has increased tremendously, but need more practice in coasting up to an intersection or traffic light.

Me too, I'm driving with these settings since one year. It get a little bit of time to get use to but after.... I can't driving without the coasting function anymore ! It's so inefficient to not have it and to have an ICE zero throttle braking.
Only thing to be aware: I had a no damage accident under the rain as I was unable to brake hard: in an emergency breaking with front brake only I was skidding from...the rear, missed a turn and went straight in the gravel !
So now I'm driving in "sport" when it's raining hard !

I got some flack on this forum when I first said these were the most efficient settings (no regen, free coasting, when faster slowing isn't needed and regen when faster slowing is needed). I appreciated the early support I got on this subject from Doc and Richard 230, I think now people are starting to understand. I have coasted some fairly shallow slopes for long distances and always coast to stop lights / signs until hitting regen for the final rapid deceleration.
I also found, like you did, that on slippery surfaces or loose terrain I go to Sport where I had Harlan set the regen to approxcimately 1/2 of the ECO setting of 100% (these are actually 15% & 25% as far as the controller curent is concerned).

I love riding downhill for miles and miles without seeing the power left % number change. ;D

I'm also using the no-regen at throttle off, and find it much better for long distance riding.

It's good to see that as riders try this they find it to be the most efficient way. On another posting I said that all that is required of the rider is to get used to not having "engine braking" when the throttle is rolled off. That's what the brake lever with regen is for. We didn't have "engine braking" when we rode bicycles and we usually didn't fail to stop, without hitting anything. Actually, I wish my FX would coast as freely as a bicycle does, then I would be completely happy.

When I got my 2012DS the Firmware of the Sevcon had a setting possibility "Miscellaneous DSP configuration => Bit 12: Disable bridge if motor spinning and demand = 0 (PMAC only)" if I had activated this it was doing exactly what you want. The motor was spinning free as if the bike was off.
Unfortunately this bit vanished with the Firmware updates :'(
