Title: I know this makes perfect sense, but you got to realize it
Post by: Mike Werner on August 28, 2014, 10:34:50 PM
I've been riding my BMW C Evolution almost everyday now, racking up the miles. But recently I've noticed a significant drop in range.

Before, I did 1% of energy for 1 kilometer on average. Recently I noticed that it became 1% of battery for .8 kilometers - a drop of 20%.

Yesterday when cleaning the scoot, I decided to quickly check the tire pressure... and noticed that I was about 20% below the manufacturer's figures.

Plugged in the compressor, put air in the tires and today I was doing 1% for 1 kilometer again. In other words, make sure the tires are really in their correct pressure.

Normally I don't check the tire pressure on my other bikes since I've got them all equipped with  TPMS, so lost the process of checking tires. Subsequently I ordered a TPMS for the Beemer.

Lesson learned.

Some BMW owners have reported that the TPMS is inaccurate and tends to read several pounds differently than an accurate manual air pressure gauge.  You can depend upon the TPMS to warn you of dropping air pressure, but you can not depend upon it to give you an accurate air pressure reading, according to owner posts on the BMW forum that I frequent.

I thought about doing that, and when I started researching what it would take I

found out it is actually a lot of work
