Post by: evtricity on August 10, 2014, 04:54:30 PM
Here are the specs of the onboard charger. It's very heavy at 7.6kg!

Here's a picture of the actual charger itself. All same as spec from http://www.greenwattpower.com/pdf/evc1300.pdf (http://www.greenwattpower.com/pdf/evc1300.pdf) except the reference to 1200 rather than 1300.

Hope Zero can put a lighter charge in for next year!

Is this for the 2014 bikes? The 2013 bikes used meanwells, in a 2S 2P configuration for the S bikes.

I wonder if the 2014 FX still uses 2 meanwells.

me too! But I believe the still us it - its a good one!

I Think the meanwell is not bad 2 in series but using it in parallel like the S/DS is not so easy. I do this at the moment for my FX but as I mention if you buy 4 meanwell it can be ok or not some don't really like the paralleling. They tend to switch on and off even if exact adjusted when running without load.(you hear them clicking)
I have 6 pieces and only 4 work together.

I would rather have a more powerful charger than a lighter one  :)

BSD, please elaborate on this setup....  Do you have a 1600W charging FX?   Where you able to get the chargers on board or is this a garage setup?

I am still struggling it is not so easy as I had in mind.

I will let you know if it runs.

I plan to use it off-board. I even have dismounted the 2 onboard to get 3,5Kg of the bikes front.

I will use it sometimes on a Supermoto course next were I live.

I have 2 LHGs together in my back pack if I need to charge away from home and 4 on a board for the 1200W charging + 1200W on the quick-charger port. ( to use the break between Supermoto and Kart each 20min) to recharge the batteries.
But everything is still experimental :-\
