My new 2014 SR's odometer reads about 4% high. Is there a means of recalibrating it? I tried the method for 2012/13 and no joy. ???

That is odd. My 2014 S speedometer is spot on, unlike my 2012 S, which was about 8% fast. Unfortunately, I have no idea if the new instrument display can be adjusted to correct for an error like the previous version could. ???

Guys; heard recently that there is a reasonably common issue on these late model bikes which is causing a number of problems noted on the forums. Seems there is electrical noise interference which confuses signals and causes a number of faults. Zero were using Ferrite cores and now have a better solution (shielding kit) which sorts it out. Just a thought

Nigezero, Can you explain the shielding kit better I have the ferrite cores but never heard of the shielding kit would like a better explanation before calling into Zero for my kit. Thanks

How do these bikes sense speed? Will the high torque front sprocket mess with my Odo and Speedo like my old Honda?

Don't know more than the ferrites fixed most problems but according to the local importer some new type of shielding kit is also being used where the ferrites don't work Speaking with some other EV guys they had similar problems with HV inductance and now use she'd cables too. Haven't heard anything from the factory yet but seems its a fix for some cases and probably warranted on future builds. I'm trying to find out more.

The speed is computed from the motor drive. Changing the sprocket or tire diameter will affect the reading; fewer teeth on front will raise the indicated speed. There was a numeric constant that you could edit to adjust and correct the reading on the 2012-13 bikes; I'm still looking for the method to fix '14s!

The 2013 has the possibility to set (i guess 2014 too)
spfront - Sprocket Teeth FroIt : 25
sprear - Sprocket Teeth Rear : 132
rwhcirc - Rear Wheel Circum : 2075 mm
inside the MBB with the help of the RS232 port (TTL 3,3V!)
But for this you need the password -> can't you ask your dealer help?

A little searching and SAE J1226 allows manufacturers to bias speedometers up to 4% high in the US. Europe requires speedometers to read no less than the true speed. Companies that sell in multiple countries will error on the high side...

I have a Zero SR and it it reads about 4% too high e.g. 115kph on the speedo is actually 110kph on my GPS.
The maximum speed on my Zero SR is limited to 157kph (GPS reading) while the speedo reads 164kph.
Taking the bike on the track and knowing the bike is limiting the speed to 7kph less than it should is a little frustrating!
Anyone know how to modify the tire circumference details so that I can get a more accurate speedo reading and more importantly for track riding, the advertised 164kph top speed?

Yes there is a procedure to change that in this forum, try to search for it I think it was for the 2012

Unfortunately the 2012 procedure of holding the Select and Adjust buttons only allows you to change miles/kph, time and temperature on the SR.

Holding the two buttons for a few seconds works on the 2013 models at least. If you do change anything in there just make sure you write down what was there before ☺
