According to an AP article printed in my newspaper today, the Senate has opened debate on a tax bill that would roll over most current IRS deductions, including the ones for electric vehicle rebates. Unfortunately, things are not as positive in the House, where different ideas for various deductions and other tax breaks that expired last year are spinning around while its members try to figure out what will get them the most votes - or money (money = votes, apparently).

Thanks for the update. On and off I've been checking up on this. They need to have a conclusion but I would like some extra money in my pocket ;D

Danny, the last I heard was that Congress still has not tackled next year's budget (which is when the Federal tax rebates, credits and loopholes will be addressed). They plan to wait until the very last minute (and likely beyond). This leads me to believe (and hope) that Congress will just roll everything over again and pass a clone of last year's budget as they won't have time to do much else - other than collecting money from special interest groups to fund their reelection campaign this fall. ::)
Sometimes inaction can be a good thing when you are talking about the U.S. Congress. ::)
